Can CELEBRITY Endorsement really make a difference in the Election ?

Just read about 10 or so celebs campaigning for Kerry

I am not a fan of Celebs getting involved in Politics

but can it make a difference ?

remember not all US citizens are as educated and informed as dvdtalkers. There would be a lot of people who may vote because their favourite celeb is voting that way as stupid as it may sound.

Well put it this way, if Bruce Lee came back from the grave and put his support 100% behind Bush and i was a US citizen, then i would vote for Bush ! and that is saying something

thoughts ?

it absolutely makes a difference. The best example I can think of would be a ton of Howard Stern listeners will vote for Kerry that otherwise wouldn't vote at all.

Wait, I'd heard Bruce Lee was going to vote democrat like he's always done after 1974.

wait....what? Waitaminnit......he's been dead all that time...what do you mean like he's always done?!? Are you suggesting he's NOT dead?!?!? Or even more unlikely, that it's a voting scam?!?!? Yer trying to fire up all them conspiracy-type-folk!

But seriously, I'd agree with Roto in the sense that if a celebrity like Howard Stern has an area where they can spout for hours on end about how they plan to vote (and in Howard's case, actually demand that his listeners vote a certain way), then I think it can have influence. But otherwise, I don't think a celebrity showing up at a convention makes much difference.

Oh yeah...in addition to Howard being able to herd together his sheep-minded audience to vote (when they otherwise might not), it's possible that people who are so easily swayed/persuaded to vote for someone simply because of a celebrity appearing there, might actually write down the celebrity instead of the actual candidate...being that the celebrity is the only easily identifiable person on the screen.

Now I'm gonna go out and vote for Ben Affleck!

Only if Jesus Christ himself came down and told me it was Gods will. That's about the only celebrity endorsement that'd get me to vote for Kerry.

I always thought of Jesus as more of a ex-hippie turned Libertarian.

Based on reading this forum, if a celebrity endorses Kerry, they should "STFU." But if they endorse Bush, they should be lauded.

Several musicians and actors have come out for Bush, too, including singers Kid Rock and Jessica Simpson; rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd, Christian rock band Third Day and country duo Brooks & Dunn; as well as actors Stephen Baldwin, Bo Derek and, of course, actor-turned-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

wow.......big deal.....

Man.... my party better start getting real actors......before you know it.... Yahoo Serious will endorse Bush

It can, but in a way the Celebs did not intend. I think more people will vote against Celebs choice. We love our Celebs and even though we don't wish them harm, we enjoy their legal battles, drug problems and sex tapes. So the Celebs aren't exactly the smartest people to make those kind of choices for us.

Since Pat Sajak is endorsing Bush, I'm leaning towards voting for him, I just need to know if Vanna White is endorsing him also in order to make a full commitment.

Can CELEBRITY Endorsement really make a difference in the Election?

I'm sure they can, but only with some tiny little pin heads, AKA: "blind mice" who can't make up their OWN MINDS without the influence of some big t**-tight a**-b****, rubbin' her fancy on television...but NOT TO ME!!!

NO SIR RE-BOB!!!

THEEK! Indeed!
