Anyone here buy Ikea kitchen cabinets?

Our 1969 house still has the original cabinets and we are going to eventually replace them. Upon a trip to Ikea this past weekend we seen that they sell whole 10 X 10 packages for CHEAP. I'm talking like $1,200 - $2,200 for the cabinets and doors (no hardware). I think this is A LOT less then Home Depot or Lowe's. I'm sure the quality isn't the same but as long as there not falling off the walls or anything (plus they have a 10yr warranty). So I was wondering... Has anyone ever purchased any cabinets from Ikea?

I have not purchased cabinets from Ikea, but I do have a bunch of other things (Bed, Dressers, etc.) and my wife and I have been very impressed with the quality. Yes, you have to put just about everything together, but we've never had an issue quality wise with anything we've bought from IKEA.

They're fine. For prebuilt cabinets, they're just as good as other brands.

Ok next question... I'm assuming I have to assemble them like Nazgul said (which I have no problem with and feel confident I can do so).. But what about actually installing them. How hard is that??

Don't you guys think that's cheap for cabinets compared to the $4,000 to $10,00 you'd pay at HD or Lowes?

I just got done installing kitchen cabinets. I didn't do Ikea but they shouldn't be any different. Its not a hard job but it can be time consuming. Its good to have 2 people to be able to do it. Base cabinets are harder than wall cabinets.

I think the hardest part about installing the cabinets was the trim. It takes a lot of attention to detail to get it to look nice.

This forum has a bunch of posts about Ikea cabinets:
