Ever met someone with the same last name?

Yes. I have a Chinese last name and although most are pretty common (Wang, Chen, Lee, Chang, etc.), mine is pretty rare.
In Chinese, a lot of times the name is translated differently but the Chinese character is the same. That said, I've met plenty with the same Chinese character but not as many with the same exact English translation.
On Friendster.com, I found one other person with my same exact first & last name.

There's another guy in the PDX area with the same first and last name as me. Apparently he's a hard core NRA Anti-abortion Republican. I get calls for him all the time. I've started to have fun with the calls I get soliciting donations.

Only once. And we may possibly be related if we traced our bloodlines back to the early 1800s.

I randomly met someone at my college with the same first AND last name as myself. I wish I had thought to exchange contact info with him, because that was kinda cool, but I was in a rush, and didn't think to do that until later.

Never.
My last name is bastardized. My grandfather was from Spain. He moved to America when he was like 4, and when he enlisted in the Army in 1941, he got harassed a bit by his fellow soldiers for how ethnic the name was. So he shortened it to something more American sounding. It's the name I have now.

Everyone who has my last name is related to each other (we don't even have any alternate spellings like some families), so yes, I have. At family reunions.
As for the last name Friend, my high school math teacher's name was Ray Friend.
