Isn't it frustrating trying to snap that picture right at the centerpoint? You got pretty darn close! I only managed to get one with both of them in the frame and it came out all blurry

Hi Major Len Anderson! I want a higher resolution camera What were you using anyway? Obviously you can get closer at the airshow than when they are flying over the lake up here. I have a shot of that same manuever with a 10x zoom and it's nowhere near as close as your shot. Plus mine was blurry again
<-- mine

Nice pics Nosmo

Hey Nosmo, what kind of shutter speeds and aperture settings were you using for most of these shots? I'm trying to learn about panning and if you have any pointers I'd appreciate it. Unfortunately I can't make it to the last day of the show tomorrow, as I have to sling lattes to more trust fund babies ALL DAY.

Oh ya, and those are radical pictures. What lens were you using?

Shhhh... Don't tell anyone, but I had it on auto on the Sports setting. Most of them are at 1/2000 @ F/6.7. I had to turn autofocus off and focus manually. I was using a Canon 75-300 1:4-5.6 lens.

Roto - I'm using a Canon EOS10D. Even a no talent hack like can shoot good pics with it.

Nice frontal shot of my old favorite - the A-10.

Great pic of the P-51 and the F-16.

Yeah I forgot to mention that too. Up here last week they had a P-51 flying with an A-10 instead.

That's awesome. My two favorites flying side-by-side.

In that case, I'll post these for you so you don't have to fish them out of my links on page one.

That's all I got of em. Sorry, I would've gotten closer, but I didn't get there in time for their whole thing and I was too cheap to pay $25 to get in for the boat races.

Nosmo, do you have the IS lens? I'm interested in getting the Non IS version of the 75-300, but am wondering about camera shake at the telephoto end. Were you using a tripod, or does it not really matter since you were shooting so fast?

No - that's not an IS lens. It's just my steely nerves holding the camera steady.

...and the fact that I was shooting at 1/2000 didn't hurt either.

Well that's good to know. I was told not to buy into the IS anyway, and instead invest that money saved into a better tripod, but it looks like I probably won't have a problem. I'm actually looking at either the 75-300 USM or the sigma or tamron 28-300s.

Off topic, if he wanders in; How'd you like the midget porn Tsar Chasm?
