I've joined the unemployed Otters.

Yesterday was my last day at my 911 job. It just didn't work out. Like they say, 911 is not for everyone.

So I went back to the bank that I used to work for and they will contact me in 3 days. They said the only negative is that I left without a 2-week notice (because the 911 job called me and asked me to start the next day). I'll know by Monday.

Today I applied to a little over 10 positions, most over the Internet. Tomorrow I'm going to 2 temp agencies, NV Job Connect, a health insurance company (I have a Masters in Public Health), and to pick up the newspaper. I plan to look online at all hospitals and hotels. That's all I plan to do tomorrow. On Saturday I plan to clean house, on Sunday I repair my desktop PC and look at the Sunday newspaper, and on Monday I'll apply to everything I cut up from the Sunday paper.

I plan to spend the rest of the day today reading for pleasure

If the bank calls me back on Tuesday and offers me the job, that's the one I plan to take. I spent 2 years in there and I think the experience and training I went through on 911 will make me a better employee. I remember how to use the systems and I remember how to do the job (I left a little over 6 months ago).

All in all, it was a great experience and if I had to do it all over again, I would. I left in very good terms with everyone there and am rehirable if I ever apply again anywhere in the police department.

I'm covered through October 1st financially, so I need a job by September 1st. (I could even make it through November 1st with some savings I have and selling some DVDs, so as long as I have job by October 1st I'm in no big financial trouble and I can't see myself not finding a job within 50 days). 20 days total of job hunting, and I have 3 years of experience under my belt (and am bilingual - English/Spanish).

Still, prayer's always welcomed The uncertainty's the killer.

Do you still have all that debt? Is Star Wars still preordered? Do you live paycheck to paycheck as your only covered for a month?

I thought what they said was, "911 is a joke".

if you left on good terms
does the mean you quit?

wouldnt it have been better to tough it out a little longer and secure another job first?

Yes, I quit. I was on the training program and was not pulling the percentages to go at it alone, and I was using up a trainer, a console, and other resources that could go to another person from another academy, so we agreed that it was time to part because another week wouldn't have made a difference and it wasn't going to work out. They actually appreciated that I was thinking about the resources I was tying up. Out of 23, we lost 5 in the Academy and 7 more (me included) resigned at various stages of the training. So there were 11 left as of yesterday (only 5 had gone on their own already..... 6 more were still in training).

It's not the kind of job where you can choose to stay... it's better to resign because then you're rehireable... and if you reapply to that police dept and they see resigned from 911 during training, everyone understands and sympathizes

Don't. Do everything you can on Sunday and do so much prep work that you're done by 8:30AM Monday.

Beat the crush.

Good idea. I'll have everything done and ready Sunday night and try to fax everything possible that Sunday. I'll leave the in-person only for that Monday morning.

We all Know the GDebt situation, so there can't be any free cash unless she is getting compensated.
