Job inquiry letter--opinions please (CPhT)

For whatever reason, I've never bothered to check Monster.com for pharm. tech jobs--just never thought of it until now.

There was a posting that interested me, but it's over a month old, so I'm going to send the following inquiry letter to the contact. Your opinions about the letter are wanted.

Dear Pharmacy Manager,

I'm interested in the pharmacy technician job posted on Monster.com and am curious about the availablity of the job.

I would enclose a resume, but to be honest, I have no relevent work experience other than a few months of clinical education that was part of pharmacy technician program at (XXXX) College--(City).

However, I did excel in that program and in fact passed the PTCB exam during the first semester of the program to earn my CPhT status. In addition, I have a very strong aptitude for any dosage calculations that may be required. In fact, I ended the semester with a 100% average in the Pharmaceutical Calculations class.

I am available to work any of the hours as posted in the job description on Monster.com.

If there is any additional information I can provide, please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience. I may be reached by phone at (XXX) XXX-XXXX, or by e-mail at [email protected] If you would prefer to reach me by postal mail, my address is as follows:

(Me)
(Address)

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

(Me)
Thanks!

Thanks!
'to be honest' is not a good idea. Spin it- you've seen lots of political threads here and turn it around as a positive.

100% average? State your grade- if you got an A, put that. Don't put 100% since you can't prove it, at least with my transcript (and probably with yours too!).

I would list the requirements and how you meet all of them as well. If the cover letter doesn't sell your resume, you're sunk. The point is to get the interview- nothing less. Good luck!!

Well, that's part of the problem, I don't have a resume, lol.

No, I can't prove the 100%, but I thought that sounded more positive than a "mere" A.

Hmmm, I'll see what I can do about rewording that one part.

As mentioned above, spin it, avoid any negatives, emphasize the positives, something like this:

It can be polished some more but I think you get the gist of it.

Good luck!

MonkeyG I'm considering applying to the street corner manager of Pimp of 14th st. Industries. If you can work your magic on something that would be greatly appreciated!

Your back handed friend,

Debaser.

Dear Hiring Manager, respect:

It has come to my attention that you are currently hiring for the position of junior pimp, Fourteenth Street and Industries.

Although my background is in accounting (list your job here), I have spent the past fourteen years within the industry as the lead procurer of trollops for First and Main. At F&M I managed a team of 18 call girls where my ability to multi-task and translate ideas into working "designs" enabled us to become number one in the city block.

I believe my experience can be an asset to your gangster empire. I hope you will consider me for the position after reviewing my included portfolio. I have also taken the liberty to attach an extensive list of references from both sides of the industry.

I can be reached at my pager 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or if need be, I am available at the corner of Hollywood and Highland until the end of the month.

Respectfully Yours,

Debaser.
