What would it take to get you to switch teams?

No, not that "switching teams."

If you're familiar with my posts in the political threads, you probably know that I'm a Kerry supporter. I really dislike Bush, and think he's led the country down the wrong path. But if he ended the War on Drugs, I think that single action could do more good for the country than all the harm I think he's done through his misguided tax cuts, his unfunded mandates to the states, and his continual pressing of socially conservative positions on homosexual rights, medical research, and abortion.

Is there a single program or policy that could move you from the Bush camp to the Kerry camp or vice versa? Is there something on of the major candidates could do (or credibly promise to do) that would make you abandon your dreams of electing Michael Badnarik or Ralph Nader and vote for a major party candidate?

by ending the war on drugs, do you mean "winning the war on drugs" or "discontinuing the war on drugs."

Ending the War on Drugs would be a start, but I don't think it would be enough.

This seems to be a good question.

Postscript: People are always going to do drugs.

I did switch political teams after the 2000 election and I just don't see myself going back to the Democratic party for a few reasons.

If a candidate made a politically-risky promise (that I agree with) like ending the 'War on Drugs,' I would vote for them.

BTW, I'm probably not voting this year. There is no candidate who has earned my vote.

One of these 2 running would motivate me to vote for the major party opponent. One of the rare scenarios where I vote for a 'lesser of 2 evils.'

Drugs (mostly)
Prostitution
Gambling

Empty the prisons of drug users and fill the cells with people being paroled to make room for more drug users.

I know that losing my job to "Budget Cuts" last year made me fall out of love with Bush/Republicans and since Dems aren't going to do any better for the country both sides can kiss my ass.

All I hear is postering and lies from Bush and Kerry so they can get elected and the same ole shit can keep going.

Thats the way it is. No candidate has the balls to say what they really feel (save Ralph Nader). Everyone in America is hyper-sensitive to any controversy. If a candidate makes a stand for real change - like Nader - he is ridiculed as a loon. The ability of lobbies to mobilize against a candidate at a moments notice makes them walk a tightrope where nothing gets proposed and nothing gets done.

Drugs and gambling I can kind of see, but considering the amount of exploitation that goes on wrt all parties involved in prosititution I don't think I would call that vicitmless.

If adamblast . . . wait.

I've been registered independant for my whole life. I'd join whichever major party came down firmly for free trade and decriminalizing victimless crimes. It ain't gonna happen in my lifetime.
