So I just got a phone call from my friend Deena who told me that her boyfriend just dumped her over lunch. Here’s the background…Jackson, her BF, is a law student at a top school in L.A. (he’s going to be a 3L in the Fall). This summer he has been working in a prestigious paid internship in the legal department of a major movie studio. At the studio he met a secretary/receptionist/typical Hollywood wannabe. Deena and Jackson both happen to be black. The secretary chick is a 23-year-old dumb blonde (no college education) with big fake boobs. So surprise, this jerk is dumping my friend for the filthy bimbo. Deena knew something was up when she visited him at work and the blonde was openly flirting with her BF right in front of her! My friend’s a pretty secure, non-possessive person so she didn’t say anything.

“What reasons did he give you for the breakup Deena?” I asked.

“Basically he said that he was tired of feeling ‘married’ and he wanted something new,” she said. She has wasted 5 years on this a--hole. He has never been with a white chick before, so the subtext of his explanation of wanting something “new” is that he’s more than happy to jump at the chance to date a white girl. I have never met this guy, but he is supposed to be a liberal (he signed an Amicus Brief written by law students urging the Supreme Court to support Affirmative Action in the recent University of Michigan case). With liberals like this, no wonder we’re being shafted by conservatives. Sexual choice is not just some vague notion of “personal taste;” it’s aesthetic, psychological, economic, and political.

My friend is a Ph.D. graduate student who was a TA of mine. She’s incredibly smart, beautiful (big almond-shaped brown eyes, great smile, cool frizzy hair, amazing skin), and she’s freaking funny as hell (she does great impersonations). She was seriously in love with this guy. Before he got his current job and his white trophy, he was talking about the possibility of marriage.

This situation is disgusting; I’ve never heard a person so upset before. I’m gonna take her out for ice cream and some bowling tonight. I have all sorts of inflammatory things I want to say about racial sell-outs, but I think I’m just going to do a lot of listening. What do you say, what can you say to someone whose heart has just been stomped on? I readily admit it now -- I AM ANGRY!

Well, I've had discussions about the sell-out "crap" issue with her before, but I agree, I'm gonna try and cheer her up.

Anyway, I'm sorry your friend got dumped but it's NOT 1850, 1950, or 1965. Do you know the WHOLE STORY? It's clear you're biased. What's his side? Maybe he's just done with her. It happens you know. It's not like they were married so he and she can come and go as they please.

BTW, A black man can date whoever he wants. If a white girl or guy for that matter wants to "hit it" with them then more power to her.

I think you are trying to bait people and so, in my reply, I will take the racial equation out of it. Let's pretend all three people are purple!!!! From my experience, males think below the waist! MOST males! Let's talk about this logically. Does your friend want someone who leaves her for boobs? That would sort of make him a boob in his own right. It does not matter what color this guy is or this girl is. This guy is a jerk. He sees what he can get and he wants it. Is it your friend's loss? No. It is his loss. (THE FOLLOWING IS WHAT I WANT TO SAY:When he gets tired of oral sex every day. When he says, "Jeepers, those boobs are just too big." He will find a very rude awakening when he is dragged to all those Hollywood parties and get drugged up and he and his girlfriend have a threesome.) THE FOLOWING IS WHAT I WILL SAY: Yes, that is right, it is his loss. Eventually he and his new girlfriend will run out of things to talk about. It is all just a physical attraction and they inevitably end. He will be worse off for not having her. She can now cut her losses and make a better life. She should be happy he didn't waste ten more years of her life. If she wants someone who would dump her for a little T & A then she needs to have the time for herself. Time to re-evaluate her self worth. Time to love herself so that she can be loved by others. I know this type of guy. It does not matter what the other person's color is as long as she has got the body. He is not worth it!

If your Deena is such an amazing person and yet she chose to spend 5 years of her life with this so-called loser and a sell-out, then she must be pretty dumb for not seeing him for what he really is.

Coupon Queen, really good points if you do the race neutral approach. But I think the point is if the secretary was some black bimbo with big fake boobs, her BF probably wouldn't have gone for her. I think skin color, sadly and unfortunately, made a difference in his decision.

Cool Kitten, my friend was pretty much blind-sided by the break-up. Sure every couple has fights, but she thought everything was going pretty well.
