I'm not understanding why this is so difficult. You needed to name a team. Not a state, not a school, but a team. If people aren't naming teams, then they didn't answer the question correctly.

The question asked people to name a team. I think we can take it as given that when people said "Florida State," they weren't refering to the Physics department or the Masters of Fine Arts program.
The issue of not specifying football vs. basketball vs. hockey is a closer point, but I would argue that if the question was "Name a movie with Denzel Washington," then "The Manchurian Candidate" would not be any less correct of an answer than "The Manchurian Candidate (2004 film)," even though technically you might mean the 1959 novel or the 1962 film.

If the school doesn't count for that question, that's just BS.
Clearly, by answering Boston College, I wasn't just stabbing in the dark that maybe one of their 3 teams lost a coach.
