Looks like the series is done and on dvd...which should make it much easier to watch.

I don't think kids need to know the minutiae of the CW that Ken Burns gets into in the series. Sure, if they want to explore it, that's fine. Roots really gave context to slavery that people never bothered to gather.

I caught the last couple of seasons of The Wire at a friend's house. A lot of characters to keep track of at first but it is a very good series.
