There's nothing patriotic about the "United" in DC United. It actually refers to an English convention of naming a football club "united" if it formed from the merger of two or more clubs.

Unless it specifically references the United States.

(And I have no idea if it does or does not).

Sees that wenders already addressed this.

Thanks.

I'd probably have to agree with this. The Stars in Texas refer to their star and not the ones on the U.S. flag, right?

No to Dallas Stars.

They are the Minnesota NORTH Stars which has absolutely nothing to do with American patriotism.

Wait... STARS are no longer a symbol of American patriotism? No, I'm sorry. They are.

It doesn't refer to the stars and stripes. It's a lone star reference (even though the nickname is plural) and truncated from North Stars (when they moved from Minnesota). They don't wear red, white, and blue unis.

United doesn't refer to United States so it is out.

Stars doesn't refer to the Stars and Stripes so it should be out.

Consuming large quantities of beef is an integral part of American culture. Vote YES on Cowboys!
