The Erasure Appreciation Thread

This woman can still sing. Here's the first single off her new covers album "Snapshots" out in Europe on August 26th. This is one of my favorite songs of the 90's.

The rest of the track listing. Including songs by Bowie, the Cars, Kirsty MacColl, Erasure, the Cure, etc

Kim is one sexy cougar. :)

I still have the single of Kids Of The America in my collection.

Erasure -- "The Neon" -- August 21, 2020

I haven't been a fan of any Erasure album since "Chorus", but this shows a lot of promise. It is the best thing I've heard from them in over 25 years. Very 80's sounding Erasure IMO. Nicely done!

Erasure call it a day

Mixed message in this article. The headline says they've quit performing live (which sounds like they will continue to record new music), and just below that is says "Erasure have split up and won't be performing again". It truly sucks for the fans that they won't be doing a farewell tour. Especially since their last tour was cut really short due to personal family issues. And none of those dates were rescheduled. Vince has already moved on somewhat recording a covers album with Neil Arthur of Blancmange. In all honesty, I'm surprised Vince stuck around this long with Erasure. He was a bit of a fickle lad early in his career. Depeche Mode (1 album), Yazoo (2 albums), the Assembly (1 song).

Not really surprised. They should have ended it a long time ago.

I am a big Erasure fan and owned all their albums from their first release Wonderland (1986) to Light At The End Of The World (2007). Honestly, LATEOTW is pretty weak, and anything released after has just been bad. Cowboy (1997) was really the end of their solid run of great albums. So, they haven't made anything truly "great" in 30 years.

Just my opinion though.

I thought "Nightbird" was their last truly decent release. Even though there were good songs here and there on other albums. But their last two albums were much better than I expected. I had stopped seeing them live years ago because a little bit of Andy Bell can go a long long way with me. But I saw clips of their last tour and it looked great, so I got tickets. And then the entire tour was cancelled. Which was probably because Vince's wife was very ill. And she eventually passed away.

Update on this article. I was wondering why I couldn't find another single story about this anywhere online up until late last night. The band released this statement earlier:

"Following some misleading reporting in the media today, we would like to make it very clear that Vince Clarke and Andy Bell are still working together as Erasure and have no plans for that to stop. Erasure are currently in the studio working on a new album, and Vince and Andy are involved in discussions about various possible touring scenarios to promote that release. At this stage it's still too early to be able to say more about the new Erasure project than that, but we are looking forward to sharing all the news as soon as we are able." - ERASURE HQ

Andy just had a solo tour last year that finished here in LA in December.
