HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF original release

Does anyone know on what CD can I get the original release of HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF with the girl moaning like it was released in 1982?
I don't want no current edits.
Does the Japan or UK pressing have it?
Does the Japan GREATEST HITS have it?

“Decade” has it. I didn’t know it was ever removed, or was it just reduced?

I have never heard of it getting removed.

Spotify has the same song just as it has always been and this is from the 2009 remaster of the Rio album.

Supposedly this CD has the longer version.

There is a discussion about various versions here. https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threa...version.65532/

The “Decade” version is 3:27, the longer is 4:02. However my ‘82 vinyl version is 5:14. That must be a lot of moaning!

It shoud be on the 2 cd Colector's Edition of Rio from 2009. Other than the main version, it also has 3 other versions including the "Night" version which I think you're referring to as it has more moaning at the end.

Yes, but the sound of that CD is not good.
I had that CD and sold it and purchased the white cover hits CD years ago.
On radio they play the edited version now.

I think the U.S. RIO versions are not re-mastered. You know same masters of the 90s' CD days.
I know the Japan versions are re-mastered but I don't want to pay double the price and the moaning is not there.

Re: HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF original release

Since #METOO back around 2015 when the song is played on the radio the moaning is gone.
I checked out copies of the CD from library and it's not like it was in 1982.

Re: HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF original release

Here you go. All the moaning you could want, and it is even ramped up at the end.

I just don't want to know the details of why you want the moaning so bad.

This is off the 2009 remaster of Rio on the second disc called the "Night Version."

Re: HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF original release

All I want is the song the way it came out in 1982 but in re-master not no extra mix.
The key is that it be a re-master as in improved sound not mixed different.

Why do you want a re-mastered version? If you want strong moaning the 1982 original is prominent enough.

Because a 1980s' & 1990 to 1997 CD of DURAN DURAN RIO sounds not as crisp and loud when CDs started being produced from 1998 to present.
So I don't want to purchase a CD for over $20 for one song and that song doesn't sound like it did originally in 1982.
It's like the 1987 The Beatles CD releases compared to when they were remastered in that boxset.

Re: HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF original release

Sounds like someone needs to read about brickwalling...

Some sound engineers (people way above my paygrade) feel that those 80's CDs you disdain are the closest representative of the true, "off the soundboard" recording compared to "remastered" versions.

Personally, I just say find the version you like, listen to it and buy it if you like it. It isn't like old or new CDs of Rio are expensive at this point.

That's why you get a 1982 vinyl pressing of the record and be done with it.

I'm not buying a player for one song!
Just like I'm not buying a laserdisc player to watch original cut of STAR WARS.

Of course not! You buy a turntable so you can start listening to albums and really appreciating the sonic quality of analog music, as well as enjoying the large cover art. And spend Saturdays digging through the used vinyl section at your record store and walking out with tons of gems, many of which are just not available on CD. If you're a Duran Duran fan, you'd also be well aware that a lot of British bands of the era would release re-mixes of their songs along with B-sides that don't appear on the albums. Some eventually made it to CD via box sets and retrospectives, some didn't. There's so many of those 12" singles you'd want.

(and I've got a few laserdisc players I've repaired and gotten back to fully working order. I'll sell you one, original Star Wars not included)
