A forthcoming 30th anniversary edition, due from Universal on Oct. 27, collects all of the album’s songs and outtakes along with two full concerts from the tour in support of the album, bringing together 72 tracks — with 53 of them unreleased.

Along with full concerts from Los Angeles and Seattle, there are six bonus live tracks from Springfield, New York and Rome (the latter from one of the band’s last-ever concerts, an oft-bootlegged radio broadcast). Veteran producer and engineer Jack Endino—who helmed the band’s 1988 debut “Bleach”—reconstructed the live tracks from stereo soundboard tapes for this year’s reissue. Additionally, the album’s original twelve songs, along with five bonus tracks and B-sides, have been newly remastered from the original analog master stereo tapes by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Services—who assisted Albini as the only other engineer at the original sessions.The physical Super Deluxe Edition box sets also includes a removable front-cover acrylic panel with the album’s trademark angel; a 48-page hardcover book with unreleased photos; a 20-page newly designed fanzine; a Los Angeles tour poster lithograph by hot rod artist Coop; replicas of the 1993 record store promo Angel mobile, three gig fliers, two ticket stubs for Los Angeles and Seattle, an All-Access tour laminate, and four cloth sticky tour backstage passes: Press, Photo, After Show, and Local Crew.

Available exclusively at online stores at uDiscovermusic.com and SoundofVinyl.com and limited to 3000 units worldwide, fans who buy either Super Deluxe Edition will receive a Nirvana acrylic stand to display their angel-on-acrylic panel included in both boxset configurations.

So they follow the Nevermind deluxe model by refusing to give us the album on Blu-ray in HI-Rez with an ATMOS mix. I eventually picked up the Nevermind anniversary release but only when I saw it for a good price.

Already have the gold CD for In Utero so another redbook mastering doesn't do much for me.

Yeah, me as well. I haven't heard the album in years but remember it being pretty good. Not enough to get the super deluxe sets though, the 12" LP with additional 10" will be good enough for me.

I actually waited and got the Nevermind box for 50 bucks brand new on Amazon just the other day. I already had the 20th Anniversary edition of Nevermind and the 30th edition was just a new mix of the original album with a bunch of live stuff...pretty much like this new In Utero release. I already have the prior deluxe edition of In Utero with the different mixes and demos (I prefer those kinds of unreleased tracks to the live stuff) so I will wait until this one heads to around the 50-dollar mark as well.

Waiting to hear comparisons between the new version and the black covered vinyl i’ve heard raves about but never pulled the trigger on for some reason. Will pick up whichever most people seem to prefer.

Theres a live release of a really good Paramount show I want to pick up at some point but other than that I’m good on live Nirvana. Already have From The Muddy Banks.

A little off topic, but I was watching Nirvana Unplugged on YouTube last night and it's so good. It's one of my all time favorite albums and live performances.

Same. It’s tough to say that an acoustic set with so many covers that was so unlike their signature sound was the best thing they ever did. Also tough, at least when listening to it, to say it wasn’t.

It is amazing how well some of the MTV Unplugged performances could be argued are the best for some bands.

Alice In Chains, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Mariah Carey, KISS and Stone Temple Pilots Unplugged are just a few of the standouts.

Could you imagine an Unplugged complete boxset? Now that would be impressive. I looked up the list of all the artists that did an Unplugged concert and probably only watched a tenth of them. Had no idea there were that many.

Yeah, it's a really impressive list of artists, especially from the 90s era -- from hair metal to rap to classic rock to grunge. But there are some really notable omissions like RHCP, Soundgarden, U2, and a dozen others that would have fit well into the mold.
