Steve Harwell from Smash Mouth reportedly on Death Bed [Update: Dead at 56]
Apparently due to liver failure from years of alcohol abuse. Story says he's in hospice care.

Never was a fan of their music but a sad story and at 56 it is too young to go through that.

That's really sad that his disease went unchecked, such that he is about to die at 56.
Not a fan, but their biggest hit was a hit for a reason, it's pretty catchy!
Kudos for the jokes, you heathens!

Also, I believe it should be 'deathbed'. Shame on you, TMZ. Shame on you.

RIP
I saw Smash Mouth live at BottleRock 2014 while waiting for another band at the same stage.

RIP. I listened to the album Astro Lounge a bunch back in the day. All Star was obviously a huge hit and I played it a bunch, but I also liked other songs like Then the Morning Comes and their cover of Can’t Get Enough of You Baby. Walkin’ on the Sun is also a good song.

Eh, "limited experience" isn't the same as saying "limited talent". I don't think it shits on him at all.

He's had huge alcohol problems for quite a while now. I've read about atrocious live shows, bandmates having difficulty, etc. While his early death comes as a surprise to me, the cause doesn't. It's too bad. I wasn't a huge fan of the band, but they were fun enough for an afternoon outdoor concert.

He had a weight problem which did not help.
I live in the Bay Area and did not know he was born in Santa Clara.
