Awesome! Have fun.
They have unique merch per show apparently. Lots of different T-Shirts. FYI : There is a merch stand at the top of the first set of escalators. I saw the line was huge in the lobby and someone at an info booth told me about the other two merch stands. I couldn't find the middle one so I went all the way up to the top which was a shorter line, but still a long wait. That middle-level one is kind of hidden, like where the elevators are. And there's almost no line there. Also the DJ show lasts like a half hour or more, so if that starts up, don't feel like you have to rush to your seat. You have a lot of time left.
Pizza Rock is one of my favorite pizza places and they have vendors in the Sphere. Wish I had known that before I ate some crappier pizza outside before the show.

I just went to the merch stall outside in the afternoon.

my work trip is to Manila. So I think that makes up for missing the 2nd last show.

What an amazing show! This is the 8th time I’ve seen them live and this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen at a concert! Bravo!

Major clusterf*ck getting out, though.

Picked up the hoodie, thanks for the tip Decker!

Oh yeah, getting out is a real PITA. They need to fix that.

Glad you got some merch. Was it the same thing with the hidden merch stand on the middle level?

Technically, wasn't a retirement, just end of touring. Sphere residency is not a tour.
I might be interested in that show. At least more interested than in Phish.

At least that's a better explanation than the avatars that Kiss will be promoting.

The line at first level for merch was massive, missed the hidden one as the wife and I went straight to our seat level (300). There was merch stand there, line wasn't too bad. I tried to go back after the show to get a poster for my brother, but it was blocked off and usher lady wouldn't let us through. Line was massive again at lower level so we just said forget it and left.

Wow the show has changed an improved. And the band seemed to be loving it. Bono was very relaxed tonight. Even did some crowd surfing

Are the effects in the sphere totally preprogrammed or do they have the ability to stretch out certain things to fit how the band is playing in the moment? Iíve never heard Dead and Company but I assume they jam out for great periods of time and if the show is very regimented time wise that might be a hinderance to them.

I would assume bands like Phish and the Dead are gonna rely on looping screen-saver type graphics that don't have specific time cues.

Yeah would be kind of silly not to I suppose. I get a kick out of the idea of a them doing an encore to a test pattern due to an unplanned 34 minute version of Terrapin Station.

The video and lighting are preprogrammed with live camera feed overlays at times so it can't really be changed on the fly. During the acoustic set there is little or no synchronized video. It's mainly video of the band from the camera feeds. That allows U2 some leeway to improvise. For future shows they probably can set up some visuals that sync with the music like you see on some computer peripherals.

Re: U2 "Achtung Baby" Vegas shows

Saw the U2 bit in the Sphere on the Grammys tonight.
Nice they gave out an award

So is it better to watch the screen from the back or the top sections rather than from upfront?

Six of one, half a dozen of the other. It comes down to personal preference. Did GA and loved it. Only had to crane my neck a few times and the fact that I was 10 feet from the band more than made up for it. I did miss the lighting effects on the turntable stage because it elevated.

The 100s (Rows 1-20) and the 200s probably offer the best compromise but are the most expensive. Just know the view after row 20 in the 100s becomes increasingly obstructed. Another thing to keep in mind is that the middle third of the show doesnít really use the screen in the same way as the beginning and end. Itís mainly rotating colors and overlays of the band.

Re: U2 "Achtung Baby" Vegas shows

I was wondering about that Grammy performance: it occurred around 6:30-7 on a Sunday. Did they have a full performance that they cut to, or was that fans just let in for the Grammy performance and maybe another song or two?

It would be cool to actually hold the Grammy Awards there sometime.

The performance looked prerecorded. Notice that you couldn't see the crowd during the actually award announcement. It was a tight shot of the band on the stage.
