Christina Perri - anyone still rememeber her?

about 10 years ago or so she had that one song that was pretty good. Jar of Hearts or whatever it was called.

Wasnt she an American Idol contestant or something?

She's more known for the "A Thousand Years" song.

I followed her in her early years when she was just doing YouTube videos before the Lovestrong album came out. I met her and talked for a bit in 2011 she came to town a as one of the "Concert for a Cure" performers.

Sure dude, numbers don't lie. A Thousand Years is her most successful song, look it up. Jar of Hearts is what got her first noticed and gave her a career.

Re: Christina Perri - anyone still rememeber her?

well i still disagree.

also thats your opinion about Thousand Years where YOU think it was a "hit"

I remember very well that Jar of Hearts music video and the song itself was more well known on tv such as VH1 etc. Even on youtube people still watch Jar of Hearts on youtube

Re: Christina Perri - anyone still rememeber her?

Thousand Years was in one of the Twilight movies so it makes sense that it was a bigger hit.

I prefer it but Jar of Hearts is also good.

Her Christmas EP is pretty solid.

Re: Christina Perri - anyone still rememeber her?

I found out through a Google search that she was a guest performer, but not a contestant, on shows like So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars. I also found out jer music gets used on these type of shows by contestant singers but she was never a contestant. I also found out Jars sold around 100,000 copies and Thousand sold around 10 million copies. My main two search results were from Wikipedia and IMDB.

Cool.
Using YouTube:

views for Jar of Hearts = 413 million
views for Thousand Years = 2.1 billion

And I don't remember her. Her style is not my jam.

Many artists aren't known for their biggest hit/most popular.
Examples
Aerosmith's most popular song was I Don't Want to Miss A Thing
John Lennon's most popular is Just Like Starting Over
McCartney's most popular is Silly Love Songs
Rolling Stones most popular is Honky Tonk Women

Re: Christina Perri - anyone still rememeber her?

I’m sure we could do this all day, but here are the Spotify plays:

1,175,573,963 A Thousand Years
421,185,497 Jar of Hearts

But I guess everything is considered a matter of opinion these days.

From a Billboard Charts perspective, Jar of Hearts wins.
Jar of Hearts hit #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
A Thousand Years was #31 and #7, respectively.

In sales, A Thousand Years wins.

I for one would like to welcome back Weequaywarrior (or urrutiap, as he was formerly known 'round these parts) to the forum.

Just don't get him started on how much VHS tapes cost in the early days of home video.

I thought it was that same person, but doesn't seem so.

Perhaps he has a twin?

I don't know, Dex...if you read some of his other posts in other sub-forums, his style of writing sure is reminiscent of urrutiap's.

Never heard of the song either. I listen to a lot of modern music, but I'm guessing it's not a music genre I listen to at all (what is it, pop? Country? Don't listen to either of those) And nope I don't watch MTV, VH1 or listen to radio, what is this, the 1990's?

Re: Christina Perri - anyone still rememeber her?

"A Thousand Years" was included in one of the Twilight movies. so that means that it is the "bigger" song from a cultural perspective.

For example, see "Running Up that Hill" and Stranger Things.

Looking at someone's title (status), something is afoot.

You are totally wrong. She had like 3 billion hits on YouTube so you MUST have heard of her. 😂

I think it's cute when someone says "You MUST have heard of ....." as if everyone listens to the same music. I could name tons of artists you've never heard of and you could do the same for me.

Re: Christina Perri - anyone still rememeber her?

As soon as I read the thread title, I asked myself "Isn't that the Jar of Hearts" girl? I don't know that I have ever heard 1000 years and I keep thinking of that Vanessa Carlton song when I try to rack my brain for a memory of the song.
