Drugs are really easy to come by in South America. He may have been partying and got some bad stuff laced with Fentanyl or something.

I think it had been at least 15 years since his last heroin overdose.

I feel awful for his wife and kids, and Dave, as he was his best friend. ☹️

Possibly, but at 50 it's also possible that past abuse left him with a weak heart and he died of cardiac arrest or something like that.

Either way, it's horribly tragic as he really seems to have been one heck of a great guy.

Sad news, was really surprised when I saw the news on Tom Morello's Instagram. Had tickets to see Foo Fighters in May, and had always enjoyed appearances on Howard Stern.

Sounds like from the details coming out that Hawkins was having chest pains

Toxicology report showed 10 different substances in his body including marijuana, opioids, tricyclic antidepressants and benzodiazepines, the statement said.

Re: Taylor Hawkins of The Foo Fighters dead at 50

Per TMZ:
4:18 PM PT -- 3/26/22 -- Some early information has surfaced as it relates to Taylor Hawkins' death, including the fact he was apparently on a lot of drugs -- this coming from the Attorney General's Office there in Colombia.According to a press release just issued by the Fiscalia General de la Nacion, preliminary results from a urine toxicology test suggests a number of substances were in the drummer's system when he passed ... including traces of marijuana, tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, opioids ... among others.
Colombian officials stop short of saying he OD'd, only saying they're still investigating the official cause of death. They say they'll make their findings available in due time.

Damn. That’s a lot of drugs he did. Wonder if he did those in the days leading up to his death and they were still in his system or if that was just what he did the day of. Either way crazy and super sad.

Curious of how long it was that they called 911 for the chest pain to the point of death

I am not a drug guy but 10 different substances that you should never mix unless he wanted to die?

I thought he would have been scared shitless not to OD after he almost died from a heroin overdose and think about himself, his wife, and kids before doing something so risky again.

Re: Taylor Hawkins of The Foo Fighters dead at 50

I've seen pretty much all the bands I've really wanted to, save Supertramp, but Foo Fighters is one I had thought about, over the last few years.

This takes that desire down a notch, but I think I'd still probably do it, as Dave Grohl is so talented and just seems like an awesome dude.

Apparently, this is Taylor singing Queen's Somebody To Love, from their last performance, although that seems to be in question. Setlist.fm shows an additional show played on March 20th, while this performance is from the 18th.

Awesome to watch, but a little sad, too.

I hope they don't dissolve the band like Led Zep or the Beastie Boys when they lost a member.

Maybe they will show up at the Grammys next week and have a tribute.

I guess bringing back William Goldsmith the original drummer is out of the question.

of what was already mentioned marijuana, tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, opioids, while sounding terrible is not necessarily unusual for someone with chronic pain, depression and anxiety. this combo, unless intentionally taken in excess with the intent to overdose is unlikely the cause of his death, especially someone who has probably been on this combo for years and built up a tolerance, and just because it was all found in his blood at the time of his death doesn't mean that he didn't smoke a joint yesterday, took an ativan 3 days ago, and a vicodin a month ago. The sedating effect of each drug found in his blood may not have overlapped, but the metabolites can be detected in the blood stream for days, weeks, or months, depending on what it is and what test was used.

Fuck
Devastated. One of my favorites and from everything I've read, Taylor was a light.

Last time I saw him. (Keep Yourself Alive, with Matt Cameron on Drums)

Or...with Foo (Cold Day in the Sun)

OR professional shot (Not the best sounding, but probably his favorite!)

Good that they will still play at the Grammys on Sunday. Will be a great tribute, even if that wasn't the original intention.

I know what you are saying, but that one is a little different. Elwood had already taken over for Dusty after he broke his hip and shoulder. And supposedly Dusty wanted Elwood to keep it going.

in my imagined scenario, it's an acoustic "My Hero" with an empty drum kit beside them.

Where does it say they are still doing the Grammys? The RS article says they've reached out to get an answer.

I guess I only read the second half of that sentence and thought it said that "the Foo Fighters still plan to perform at the Grammys on Sunday".
The announcers were still saying last Sunday, the day after Taylor's death, during the NCAA games, that the Foo Fighters would be performing at this Sunday's Grammys, but that probably was a read that they didn't have time to fix yet.
