Maybe if they make a movie on his life that would strengthen his legacy for future generations.

Compare that with Elvis Presley, who’s almost deified in pop-culture. Even as a kid I thought Elvis was the epitome of cool.

Re: RIP Little Richard
What year were you born?
I was born in ‘78. While that point of view was definitely present while I was growing up, the standard narrative was that he was a rock legend and his swagger was cool. Especially when he was younger. When I was a teen I think of the reverence U2 had for him in Rattle and Hum and the embracing of his style as cool in True Romance. |

You mean like this one? I'm not normally a fan of biopics, but I do normally like the documentaries that normally get produced alongside them. I would definitely watch one on Little Richard.
Did not know that existed Maybe HBO or somebody could put out a doc |

Really? When I was young, Elvis always seemed like a big joke. He was seen as a hillbilly who got rich and lived an excessive lifestyle, got fat, and died on the toilet.

1970. I probably learned a lot of what I knew about Elvis by listening to Steve Dahl and Garry Meier mock him on Chicago radio constantly. They even made a TV show about him called "Greeting from Graceland" that I've never actually seen but looks like it is on Youtube.
Little Richard on the other hand was a flamboyant senior citizen appearing on shows like Full House, and who supposedly made music according to Uncle Jesse. Now, I've heard stuff like "You Ain't Nothin' But a Hound Dog" by Elvis all my life, so now it's boring. But for me there's a lot of Little Richard's music that I haven't heard of, so it sounds kind of fresh to me. |
