Re: Fiona Apple -- "Fetch the Bolt Cutters"

Interesting opinion piece from someone who doesn't like the album but tries to understand why, against the backdrop of the pandemic. I like her conclusion: "Even if I couldn’t connect to that album, I could, in a way, connect to the woman behind it, another isolated artist, unrested, just trying to keep marching."

What happens if I don't like Fiona Apple?

Yes, that article is really good.

I've found myself listening to this every few days since I downloaded it. It is great for the end of the day after working from home, just chilling with a nice drink. So many layers (and honestly WTF moments) that somehow just work.

I normally don't go for experimental-type music, but I'm glad I caught wind of the high praise this was getting. Otherwise I probably never would have even given it a chance.

That is a great read and I can see why the author feels that way. I'm still working on re-listening, but I think I feel the same way. I can appreciate Apple's work without actually appreciating the work.

Same. Fetch the Bolt Cutters was the first album i played in the new place a few nights ago.

Note: The dog story is from years ago. Pointing out so that no one else spends ten minutes scouring the internet for how they missed info on a new tour

Damn, saw the thread bump and was hoping it was news about a new album coming out.
Can't believe it's already been over 3 years since Fetch the Bolt Cutters was released.

I don't think Apple does much of a tour anymore. She usually just winds up playing at Largo, many times with other artists like Watkins Family Hour, etc.

Re: Fiona Apple -- "Fetch the Bolt Cutters"

I saw her once many years ago (probably 1998), at the final stop of a World Tour, in Honolulu, in a ballroom. She was SO drunk, and kept talking about how happy she was that her tour was over. I get it (and I saw recently in the Alanis Morissette documentary she ended Jagged Little Pill in Honolulu and felt the same way), but man it pissed me off at the time. Can't you just pretend like you're happy to perform for a fond audience tonight and then celebrate after the show?
