Coward of the County may be one of the most WTF did I just listen to country songs of all time. Norm MacDonald and Adam Carolla giving a rundown of it is comedy gold.

Big country fan here (traditional, not contemporary pop). Check out some of Kenny's work with his early band First Edition. Most if not all are out of print but can be tracked down -- they started out as a psych rock band then evolved into sort of an everything band before they broke up in the mid-70s. A favorite of mine:

RIP Kenny

Terrible quality video, but this was probably one of the biggest pop songs of Rogers career next to Lady and Islands in the Stream. What about me with James Ingram and Kim Carnes.

co-written and produced by Richard Marx and David Foster, 2 huge pop music producers

so strange. A musical three way?

Here's a great remembrance of him from the Ringer.

Richard Jewell had a scene with Kenny Rogers singing the Gambler at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics though it was a actor playing him.

No way in hell am I going to watch that!

(Even though I'm kind of curious as to who's catching and who's pitching...)

Not many people can write a hit song about gang rape.

RIP

AXS TV is replaying his interview with Dan Rather from 2014 right now. It will air again on Sunday.

In the intervew his sons were 10 at the time and he wanted to live long enough to see what paths they would choose in life :(

I'm surprised no Big Lebowski fans have posted any videos of this song from when Kenny Rogers was with the First Edition

He’s not dying, just a disabled Vietnam Vet. Can you blame her, Ruby’s got needs.

Edit : No wait, I guess he is dying. But you know, not eminently. If he were on his death bed, sure Ruby should probably take a couple of days off. But now, it's kind of a big ask. ;)
