Re: Pearl Jam: Gigaton - 3/27/20 (New Album + Tour)

Not even a chance for me to try and get MSG or Baltimore. In the queue waiting...

I really HATE that you can't even ATTEMPT to try when they actually go on sale anymore. I NEVER had any issues when the onsales started and I just had to select how many tickets I wanted.

I guess I'll try when they open up this fan to fan resale thing in a few weeks.

Fuck it... I bought some side stage tickets for Quebec... 8 hour drive... I'll make a weekend out of it. Hopefully it doesn't drop a shit ton of snow.

Re: Pearl Jam: Gigaton - 3/27/20 (New Album + Tour)

Iím waiting out the second leg of the tour as thereís really no shows near me. Iíd be willing to drive if they were somewhat close. One of the bad parts about being in the Midwest. I wonít be surprised if they donít come near me though as it seems like if you donít live along the coasts they rarely make it my way aside from like Chicago being closest (which would still be a long ass drive for me).

Northeast South Dakota. I could do Canada possibly, but then Iíd have to get a passport and stuff too. Plus that would still be a longer drive. Easiest place for me to see them is the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, which even there they rarely tour (I think when I saw them in 2014 it was the first time in like a decade or so).

Re: Pearl Jam: Gigaton - 3/27/20 (New Album + Tour)

I decided against trying to go to Hamilton. It's the closest that they're coming to me on this leg, and the distance really isn't that bad, but it's in the middle of the week and I may be starting a new job soon and don't know if i could get the time off necessary to do something like that so soon after starting. If if was on a weekend I would probably go for it. As it stands I will just wait it out to see if there's another leg to be added. I'd really like to see them again though, haven't seen them since Binaural.

Yikes. My apologies.

Do you ever try to go to Omaha for things?

Is Omaha within a decent distance?
Itís not a hip city by any means where I live. Our population is about 30,000. Not big but also not really tiny either. Itís low key here, which Iím okay with truthfully. Only problem is that entertainment is limited and most of these kinds of things I have to travel for.

I can make it to Omaha fairly easily. Itís only slightly longer of a drive than Minneapolis/St. Paul, which is like 5-5 1/2 hours. I went there for Green Day back in like 2008. Iím not sure that Pearl Jam makes it there either.

There actually is a newer arena in a city a few hours south of me in the same state which has been getting some bigger shows. I kinda doubt Pearl Jam makes it there either though. Colorado is within driving distance too I suppose, but it would be like double the time of Minneapolis/St. Paul or Omaha.

I'm in Omaha. They hit Lincoln on their last tour (as did I). I am hopeful, but I kind of doubt they make it to Omaha this go around.

Itís unfortunate as I donít think they really give the midwest states much love. It seems to always be more of the coastal states where they tour. Iíd love to be a Pearl Jam fan who could say Iíve seen multiple shows as theyíre a great live band and play varied set lists. Iíve considered making trips to bigger cities if I could work it around a vacation or whatever, but thatís not always easy either.

They stole my band name.

Guess I'll steal back and go with Mookie Blaylock then.

Global Gigaton Listening Experience
https://pearljam.com/onenightonly

The Gigaton Listening Experience – a special, one night only audio-visual event in 200+ Dolby Atmos equipped theaters around the world on March 25, 2020.

The immersive event takes over the big screen just two days before the release of Pearl Jam’s anxiously awaited new album, Gigaton on March 27, 2020.

The Gigaton Listening Experience includes a playback of the entire album in Dolby Atmos. Since this 3D sound system is still new to the consumer market, Pearl Jam fans will have a unique opportunity to hear the album in a completely different way.

The Gigaton Listening Experience will be enhanced with a choice set of visuals curated and created by Evolve, the filmmaker and artist behind the music video for the first single “Dance of the Clairvoyants.”

PJ announced they're playing at a festival about 30 mins from me. Of course... after I planned a trip to Quebec.

I was just coming to post that. I'll post it in the main Covid-19 thread, too. This is insane.

Yeah, sucks. Booked my St, Louis hotel through hotwire, and it looks to be non-refundable. I think we'll go and make nice weekend of it anyway, assuming the world doesn't end first.
