Kinda weird that he was 75 and if Orr were alive today he'd be 74... which puts them in the same age range (or older) as Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Daltry, and Townsend.
You just wouldn't think they were as old since The Cars first album was in 1978 - a full 13+ years after those other bands.

Looks like the estate released the statement that he passed in his sleep after surgery. Sad loss for the music community and another blow to my childhood memories. I must be getting old.

^ Honestly, I'm kinda glad I never saw The Cars live. Any clips I've seen of them (even in the 70s/80s) they were never especially energetic. Well rehearsed and technically excellent, but not energetic.
I do really like their music though, especially the first two albums. I'd have to go with "It's All I Can Do" off of Candy-O as the best Cars song ever. Followed by "Bye Bye Love" from the debut.

It was cool he got inducted into the Rock and Hall of Fame and he was there to witness it.

Cardiovascular disease and pulmonary emphysema were the causes of death. Sounds like he was a smoker.
He was probably recovering from heart surgery and it gave out along with his lungs.

Not that it's an either/or thing, but it's too bad The Cars weren't the studio-only band, while XTC toured, instead of the other way around...

One of my all time favorites. I was seriously bummed out when I got the news Sunday. They were one of the first bands that were "mine" as opposed to a band that my older sisters turned me onto.
Saw them multiple times in 80's and of course had to see them in 2011.

^That would be much more enjoyable if the audience would STFU. Seriously. Who goes to a show and blabs through the performance?

No shit, we were disgusted with the talkers. I am syncing all the footage to an audience recording that is a bit better, but even then, it has a bunch of talkers (better but still...)

Seriously, that's a thing. And it's annoying. To the point where some performers have stopped the show to tell everyone to shut up, and others just skip my city altogether. I saw Weezer one time, and I didn't feel I was at a Weezer concert; I felt like I was at someone's party, and instead of playing the stereo they just decided to have Weezer play instead. But it was all these little circles of conversation while the band played. I don't get it.

The gif Mrs. Danger posted seems appropriate, but the kind of idiots that would blab through a show would probably enjoy the attention.

You can also find a video on YouTube of a violinist suddenly changing the piece he was playing to a classical guitar song called "Gran Vals". A quick listen of that song will tell you why.
