The Purple Rain set was total garbage. But yea this can't be that cheap but various versions for however much one is willing to spend I'd guess. Killer so many tracks that haven't even been bootlegged so that's killer.

I know cracks me up those two have no idea wtf they're on about at all. Yea because when an artist dies releasing their unreleased music is so unheard of lol. They say he worked so hard to control it, yet he talked many times of the things being released after he was gone. Two utter clueless comments by those two.

One thing however that does REALLY piss me off is them allowing Purple Rain set to be released in the state it was...how many albums has Prince released during his lifetime.....how many had audible audio errors in them....there is no excuse for that shit package they released of Purple Rain. Another thing that annoys me if they had that package done already and Prince didn't allow them to release it. Makes one wonder why. But they never mention that at all.

You're not alone, I agree, and I've been thinking a lot about this too. I guess I understand the Purple Rain reissue, and I was all for the re-releases we've gotten over the past few months for his long-OOP stuff (I only ended up getting the Rave set since I already owned the rest), but with the rate these are being churned out it just seems like a shameless cash grab.

I barely have the energy to explain it to you. Prince had an archive of all his material. A great deal of it was never released. He called it his Vault. He would frequently speak of it. Fans were always dying to hear what he had in there. Getting to actually hear it now is a blessing.

I like that he blasts people for saying the family is milking the estate, and then talks about how shitty one of these cash grab releases are. If SOME of these were not cash grabs perhaps they would make sure the releases were done better. I am excited to hear some of these vault items, but I don't want shitty releases of the material.

That's cause we weren't , he just came in rambling on about an entirely different topic lol. Which I agree with completely on that end. Prince fought FOREVER to keep his music out of commercials and most movie/tv projects. But wtf does that have to do with 1999 remaster and what not I have no idea.

And how is remastering and releasing special editions of known albums with extras in itself a cash grab.....Your comment is stupid. They released plenty of other things that had no mastering errors on them. But there is no excuse at all about releasing it how it was , just go look in that thread I lashed out from the start about that very thing. They should make good and release fixed versions of it or replace defective disks you ask me.

Just because they release stuff doesn't mean they're milking anything. IF they released something every 3 months then ok, they're milking it. Release other versions shortly or months after something comes out forcing people to double dip, then ok they're milking. Just because something is being released doesn't mean they're milking it.

They only thing they screwed up is quality of the purple rain set with it's errors on disk, and the use of commercials using his music. But again Prince KNEW what would happen decades ago, he did nothing at all to prevent it so....seems like he didn't care in the end.

It's gross hearing Prince and George Michaels' music in commercials ("Freedom" being used to sell a credit card--really?) but you are correct, hdtv00, if they didn't want that they should've set their wills up to forbid it because they had to know the estates would be all too willing--they generally are.

Yea cause its both. THey made serious mistakes, commercials , the error on the purple rain release. Plus I forgot to mention they left off the video they said would be part of that set too. But you act like releasing anything is milking when its not , which was my point.
