50 years ago today: The Beatles' Abbey Road cover was photographed

Man, I've seen pics taken today and it's nuts, the famous Abbey Road crosswalk is packed full of people for the 50th anniversary of the photo taken. Visiting there is definitely on my to do list when I eventually make it to England. Has anyone ever visited the crosswalk (and studio)?

The crazy thing is that only six photos were taken of them crossing, and the photographer didn't know if any of them would be usable until they were developed. Luckily the fifth one was a winner.

I went there once about 15 years ago. You can't tour the studio (at least you couldn't at the time), as its still in constant use. Getting a re-creation photo crossing that road is a bit challenging, its actually quite a busy street!

New Years I am going as a chaperone on my son's HS band trip, one of the things we will do is the audio self guided walking tours and there is a Rock n Roll one that will go to Abbey Road, I am excited and it is cool we will be there on it's 50th anniversary.
