Re: Rumor: Tool Will Release 2.5 Hour, Double-Album Decem This Fall

Probably for the best. I listened to them, and they’re fine I guess. It certainly sounds like Tool, but it’s not great quality. It certainly wasn’t enough of a good taste to make me any more or less excited for a new album.

They sounded great live, but they definitely felt like uh "Directors Cuts" instead of the Theatrical Release

Their older albums are headed to streaming on 8/2.

Tool - Fear Inoculum - August 30th

Maynard tweeted live on the Joe Rogan show that Tool's entire catalog will be available across all streaming providers on August 2nd followed by the name of the new album.

We finally got a release date - can't wait.

There was a time when I would have been excited for this, but I wasn't really able to get into the last 2 albums ... so I'll check it out on Spotify, I guess. My favorite was Undertow with generally shorter songs, so not super thrilled about all 12+ min epics.

Re: Tool - Fear Inoculum - August 30, 2019 -- IT IS FINALLY HAPPENING

I love Tool, they're my favorite band, but I do tend to agree their albums rank best to worst in order of release, though it depends on the day of the week for me between Undertow and Aenima.

I love that these are on Spotify, but their indexing is screwed up and anytime I try to play Tool it only plays Oerwoud.

Amazon Amazon

Pre-order is up on Amazon. There’s no telling how “limited” it is, so might as well jump on board while you can.

”Fear Inoculum is the long awaited new album from TOOL, and the band's first new album in 13 years. The album will be available digitally, and in a special Limited Edition physical package that includes a CD in a tri-fold Soft Pack Video Brochure featuring a 4" HD rechargeable screen with exclusive video footage, a USB charging cable, a 2 watt speaker and a 36 page insert book and MP3 download card. Tool members include drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, bassist Justin Chancellor and vocalist Maynard James Keenan.”

Apparently the vinyl release will be later.

Let's hope there is a regular CD release later. $44.98 is ridiculous for a CD in 2019... I don't care if it's the first Tool album in 13 years. Just another reason I've (mostly) stopped buying CDs.

I like it a lot. Sounds like it came out of the Lateralus Era to me.

Wow, what a craptastic, uninspired song...did that garbage really need to be over 10 minutes long?? I hope there is at least one song I like on this album.

Not worth the 13 yr wait... awful lyrics and recycled riffs.

I really like Tool...but $45 for this, even with the cool packaging, is not for me.

Plus this new song is not that great.

Sounds like Tool. I like it well enough, but I am always interested in new heavy rock, even if it is not breaking any new ground.

Sounds like it came right from the Lateralus sessions. It's cool I suppose.

I like it. It reminds me of "Intension" from 10,000 Days mixed with a bit of "Schism" and "Lateralus" from Lateralus. I gots my order in for the CD set last night and can't wait to hear the rest.

Yeah, that didn't need to be 10 minutes, otherwise, it's fine, if a bit redundant.
I think they're too old to reinvent the wheel at this point anyways.

I don't think the detractors really want them to reinvent the wheel so much as go back to the Undertow / Aenima days for a stint rather than kicking it at the Lateralus / 10,000 Days gear.

I'm fine either way, I'm sure this album will be fine to zone out to, but hard to rock out with.

Re: Tool - Fear Inoculum - August 30, 2019 -- IT IS FINALLY HAPPENING

The Maynard of Undertow and Aenima is gone. We are not going to get lyrics like Sober, Stinkfist or Eulogy again. As for the music when I read that the songs were going to all be around 10 minutes or longer I was afraid we were going to get wankery stuff like Pink Floyd's Echoes. If you cut out all of the bloat from Echoes you have a nice 9 minute long song instead of 23 minutes of whatever that is.

I dig it. I preordered the digital on Apple. I hope the rest of the album is like this.

Rumor is the last song is 18 minutes long and is practically one long guitar solo.

Re: Tool - Fear Inoculum - August 30, 2019 -- IT IS FINALLY HAPPENING

Meh, I'm over tool. These overlong fucking songs are way too pretentious. It was cute when I was in high school and one could see how progressive and technically advanced they were, but now, as an old man, get to the fucking point already.

I may give the new album a listen, but the last song I remember them doing was Schism. I tuned out after that. I do think A Perfect Circle is awesome, but I would never see that band or Tool live just to see Maynard in the corner not acknowledging the audience, because he's so edgy.

You end up seeing security and their flashlights more than the band at his shows anyways. Touch your phone and get thrown out. At APC, they threw out the couple in the seats in front of me for taking a selfie during intermission.

Well that was 10 minutes of pointless.
