I hated the last one, so I will listen before buying.

I like the song. It sounds like something from Trompe Le Monde (which is my favorite Pixies album) or Frank Black's early sold records.

Is Kim Deal's bass playing that distinctive from her replacement's?

bass is only part of it ... vocals as well .... not to mention what a bad ass she is

Didn't she ever only have one lead vocal? I guess her backing vocals added something though.

At one time they were my favorite band and I always held out hope for a reunion. Now, I wish they’d stop before they have a greater legacy of mediocre music over their original output.

Decent album, though I also liked the previous two efforts. Is it classic Pixies? Probably not, there's a mixture of solo Frank Black material that seems to have crept into this album. Good enough considering the Pixies disappeared for many years.
