Eddie Money live? [Update: Dead at 70]
Has anyone see Eddie Money in concert lately? Thinking of going to see him next month and want to make sure his voice is still decent. He's playing a mid sized hall not far from me and the tickets prices seem reasonable, always liked the mans music so thought I might give it a go. Havent seen his TV show or anything as I'm a casual fan...

I saw him about 10 years ago, and it was terrible.
Be prepared for him pointing the mic at the audience to SING. EVERY. CHORUS. of his hit songs. And most of his vocals elsewise to be shaky, at best.
And a lot of slow, bluesy numbers that go nowhere.

I know it's merely a symbolic gesture, but as an audio guy well versed in microphone pickup patterns, I find that "point the mic at the audience" thing to be soooooo stupid.

damn, I will most likely pass unless I check stubhub and find a killer deal the day of the show. This is the reason I hate seeing older acts, I'd rather remember them as they were back in the day as a lot of performers unless they have been at it all along (Petty before he died, Springsteen and the like) . I'd love to see the Who but I don't think it will be worth the money. A cheap ticket like this has more of an appeal to me on the off chance they still have it..

Saw him at a free show back at the end of September. He still has a lot of energy, but it comes across as if he's coked up. And like a previous poster mentioned, he 'cheats' by having the audience or band sing more often than you'd like. Not sure if it's still the case, but when I saw him, his daughter sang backup and one of his sons was on drums.

according to setlist.fm Jesse Money actually sings lead vocals on a pair of songs... so I would guess she's been promoted from only backup vocals.

If you get AXS-TV on your cable system, they're airing an Eddie Money concert Sunday, 4/28/19, at 9/8c.

will have to see if / when this re-airs. I'm curious now what I missed with the show but I'm OK with not seeing him live at this point...

Well, I am glad to have not gone to the show now. I recorded this and watched it this past weekend. How broke ass is the guy? His voice is basically shot and it was damn near a train wreck.
Sad to see him like this.

I am passionately waiting for his music concert "Rick Springfield & Eddie Money" that is going to held in Wisconsin State Fair Park in August. I've bought a ticket with hubby from here https://concerts50.com/upcoming-concerts-in-wisconsin. Yes, we have the plan to visit the USA for two months June and August. You can also see the other upcoming music concert of Eddie Money here https://www.eddiemoney.com/tour. I am even dying to be there in his show in TCO Stadium at Viking Lakes that is also going to held in June but due to a few official meetings, I wouldn't able to go there.

FYI, Eddie recently had a heart procedure and later developed pneumonia. He's canceled his upcoming shows.

Cool. Just seems like I used to see him post often in tons of threads, then nothing lately. Wishing good mental and physical health to both!
