I’m not a Loverboy fan but I used to like Honeymoon Suite.

Seems perfectly plausible to me you’d be the only Loverboy fan here.

I have the 1st Loverboy vinyl LP titled simply Loverboy, and the Get Lucky LP as well. Used to listen to several tunes from both albums back in the day, but that's been damned near 40 years ago.

Not a fan but I thought the song Working For The Weekend was catchy.

What Does It Take? was a favourite of mine.

The story about their bassist is sad, though.

Re: I can't be the only Loverboy fan here

I liked them back in the day, and even saw them live a couple times. But when I hear it now, it doesn't really pass the test of time for me. "Turn Me Loose" still sounds okay, but I never need to hear "Working For The Weekend" again. And Mike Reno's duet with Ann Wilson ("Almost Paradise") is also pretty cringe-worthy.

Guilty pleasure now. I thought they were "cool" back then.

Wear a life vest. I always trade not looking cool for living longer.

I never thought they were cool.

However, I've always liked some of their songs (Turn Me Loose, Strike Zone, The Kid is Hot Tonight, Working for the Weekend, etc). They were good, but not great, songwriters and decent musicians.

Mike Reno screwed up one of the best bands of the 70's when he joined them, though (Moxy). They went from a rough, raw, Rock and Roll/Hard Rock hybrid to a slicker, poppier, blander band that was Foreignerboy in style.

I hated Loverboy in the early 1980s. Synthetic corporate rock. I would use them as an example of everything that was wrong with rock music.

This, plus Reno's idiotic headband was probably the worst fashion accessory of the '80s by anybody, anywhere.

However, I must admit to having a certain fondness for "Lead a Double Life," mainly because of this line: "I had a champagne milkshake for breakfast, but I don't know where I'll sleep tonight."

I never understood why dorks like that always run around without their shirt on...

But I like them. I have a few CD's but probably haven't listened to them recently.

Which is immediately followed by

I've got a blue-eyed earthquake--she's lyin' in my bed
Ain't it a wonderful life

So I'm guessing he'll be sleeping in his bed again tonight.

Re: I can't be the only Loverboy fan here

Thanks for your responses everyone.

Of all their songs that never got released as singles, this one is my favorite. "Take Me to the Top" from their Get Lucky album.
