Critics don't seem to like this one, but seems like rap fans do--and I agree with them. I didn't hate Revival like most people, but this is definitely more along the lines of what I want from an Eminem album. It actually moved well over 100K more than Revival in its first week as well, so the surprise release was very effective for buzz.

MGK needs to learn how to spit better lyrics than the food out of his bowl. I commend him for coming back but, to be honest, this song was a little wack. What kind of a lame ass hook is this for a song titled "Rap Devil"? If that's the best he has got then he likely just buried himself with his own shovel.

Nah, it was a solid diss track. Instead of sounding angry, he was just clowning Eminem the whole song, while alleging how Eminem is trying to blackball him.
"I'M NOT AFRAID!!!" was funny.

Eminem will probably end up destroying him, but it was a good diss, and so far the only rapper that's stepped up to the plate since Kamikaze dropped.

Diss tracks are so silly and one of the reasons I don't like hip hop/rap. They haven't been good since McCartney's Too Many People and Lennon's reply with How Do You Sleep?

Diss tracks are to hip-hop as revolvers and shootouts are to westerns. Some of them are good and others are terrible, but they are just part of the culture.

I didn't know that Lennon and McCartney were sending shots at each other in music. Thanks for the knowledge stvn1974.

Anyway, "Killshot" is the better diss track. Eminem was switching up flows in the song, responded to just about every single thing MGK mentioned, and showed why he's considered top ten. I also liked that he sounded like the old Eminem and wasn't yelling or trying to make his voice sound deeper than it is.

I don't think MGK has it in him to make a better response to this. I hope he does, because I like competition, and he's the only rapper that responded.

They now know who MGK is and know that he is mediocre at best. Not hating him but calling it like it is. Also, Eminem is in the top 10 if you remove the 0. What I would really like to see, and it would kill anything that anyone else could say about him, is a diss track where Em takes on Shady and he unloads on himself with anything and everything anyone else might be able to say about him. And do it in a more creative way than anyone else. His rhymes, punchlines, schemes and varied flows make him the best rapper we have likely ever seen. Only Budden would disagree but he is too retired to prove everyone else wrong.

Sad but probably true.
I checked out MGK's old stuff, and I wasn't impressed. In fact, "Rap Devil" doesn't even sound like his typical style.

As a lyricist, probably. The latest diss really impressed me. Entertaining, intricate, everything.

But how many classics does he have? I stopped listening after the Marshall Mathers LP and that was a classic. I thought he fell off once he started having pop singers do all his hooks and he was yelling all the time.

I'm the opposite, I would like to see him face some real competition. He can probably battle against anyone and win, but he usually faces soft targets: Benzino, Everlast, Canibus...Mariah Carey even.

I thought Cage was a good opponent for Eminem because Cage's early stuff rivaled Eminem's early stuff in terms of overall quality, and even their content was kind of similar. Cage was the serious Eminem, or Eminem was the funny Cage. Cage's disses weren't that good though.

I'd like to see Eminem go up against someone like Lil Wayne or Jay-Z.

I didn't really care much for Revival, but Kamikaze is really good. I've been listening to it off and on in the car for the past few days, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. One thing that works well in its favor is its length. Clocking in at about 45 minutes, it really doesn't overstay its welcome.

Em basically killed both Wayne and Jay Z on songs that he collaborated with them on. Neither of those guys could even hold the mic in a straight up battle with Em. They don't think or write like that. They are both popular rappers but don't have the lyricism that Em does. Not even close.

I've never once heard anyone list Eminem as the greatest rapper of all time let alone when other rappers are talking about it. I don't know what planet you are on.

I don't have a horse in this race as i'm not too fond of either one of them, but MGK has a point. Why does EM try to sound all angry?

He's beyond rich, won countless awards, sold millions of albums and will go down as one of the greatest rappers of all time.
