I don’t get how they’re getting this release to $1,000 still. I mean the double LP is $35.98, take that times three and a half is $125.93. The two disc CD set is $19.99 so times two is $39.98. The Blu-ray I’d figure is maybe $25-$30. So that should be around $190.91-$195.91 give or take. Is the rest for the damn wooden box or what? Cripes. I wouldn’t want the massive set anyways but talk about bending your fans over and dumping out their money from their pockets.

The sad part is that there are a small handful of bands I would shell that kind of money out for. Thankfully GnR isn't one of them.

I’ve bought a couple big sets but nothing like this and neither were this expensive. I bought the Ten and Vs./Vitalogy ultimate sets by Pearl Jam. Both those were pretty loaded sets but were like $150 a piece I think.

I like the idea of something from Gun n Roses in 2018 that includes Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler. But 1000 bucks is too rich for my blood. I might be in for the LP set though.

Did Appetite for Destruction come out in 1988 or was it 87? I'm sure a Use your Illusion box set will follow on their anniversaries, but will both of those albums be packaged together or sold separately for any box set?

Summer '87.
On the cusp of teenage-hood, that was the year I really started getting into music.
I remember buying Appetite for Destruction, Whitesnake, and Girls, Girls, Girls on vinyl that summer and playing the shit out of them.

I might have to get the CD super deluxe for the wife, this is her favorite band. She would take the box set if there was a way for her to get the $1000 past me.

Interesting news. I used to be a HUGE fan of the Gunners back in the late '80's. I was a long-haired kid (when I still had hair - LOL) in my late teens at the time, and Appetite For Destruction was definitely my #1 album during that era. I used to play it constantly; I also had the black light felt poster of the cross album cover. What's interesting is that I've never considered myself a Metal fan & haven't really been into Metal bands per se. However, the Gunners were the exception.
I am definitely not going to shell out $1,000 for a super-duper boxed set of this album - screw that. However, I may get a much cheaper version of the deluxe set, possibly the very reasonably priced Target exclusive (which only comes with 2 CD's); the collectible patch sounds nice.
It's interesting both the Target set & the much more expensive 5-CD set include almost all of the Lies LP (1988) on the bonus CD's...with the exception of the extremely controversial song One in a Million, which many found offensive. I suspect the reason for this is that the song was so panned at the time (and would be found even more offensive these days than in the late '80's), that the "powers that be" decided not to include this here.
I'm slightly surprised that something like this didn't come out for the 30th anniversary of the album's release in 2017. That would have been a more appropriate time. But, maybe they were working on it & the release got delayed for some reason.

This may be a dumb question, but will all releases of this deluxe set be unedited? I don’t know if the music industry still does two separate “explicit” and “clean” album releases.

One In A Million is one of my early favorites of GnR. It should be included. Hell, in Trump's America, a lot of people wouldn't have a problem with it all.

After doing some research & looking on several sites, I'm still not clear on this. Here's some info. on the various releases of this Anniversary set, though this doesn't give much detail about which versions of the songs will be available:

Walmart.com carries Parental Advisory CDs/album but the store does not. Still don't understand the reason for this.

Anyone spending $100 plus on a box set is seriously into music, I can't imagine anyone who wants to buy this would settle for edited and censored garbage, so I seriously doubt there will be a "clean" version of this.

"Clean" versions of albums usually only exist because stores like Walmart won't carry PAEL stickered albums.
I very much doubt Walmart will be carrying this.
