Ozzy announces Farewell Tour... No More Tours 2
Apparently this will be his third farewell tour, but at age 69, it might be true this time around.

Meanwhile word from Australia is that ACDC is going to keep touring and recording. Albeit without Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, Phil Rudd and obviously Malcolm. So basically Angus is going to pull an Axl Rose and call it ACDC even though he's the only original/classic line up member. Which is ironic because Axl is who is going to be fronting the band.

I have a buddy who worked on the last Sabbath tour, his job was to sync up ozzy's recorded tracks with his mouth. Said the program was really cool, every line he sings has a track, he has to adjust them throughout the track to match what Ozzy is doing. His mic is live and he's in the PA, but he's a very small part of it.

I wonder how long Ozzy has been doing this. I first heard of it almost 15 years ago, but back then it was an Ozzy sound alike beefing up his vocals backstage.
Talk about a guy who got lucky, Ozzy is credited more than anyone for the creation of Heavy Metal. He's given God like worship by fans and musicians alike. He sells out arenas, he's had a very successful solo career, he's rich as fuck etc etc. All this from a guy who can't sing live, can't play an instrument and to the best of my knowledge,(even though he's been credited many times) has never written a song. Not to mention the fact that he essentially fried his brain from drug use. He's just been blessed with the people that have come into his life at the right time. Tony, Randy, Sharon. That and the mythology thats been built around him. It may not sound like it, but I love Ozzy for Sabbath and some of his solo work. But the dude is remarkably untalented.

I saw the No More Tours tour in 1992. That was the last time I saw Ozzy. He was already slipping, noticeably, then.
He never had any real talent - he made a career off of other people's talent. Tony, Geezer, and Bill. Randy, Bob, and Lee. Without those 6 guys Ozzy would be nobody, and by his own admission he'd probably have been dead for 3 decades now.
Sharon is the fucking devil, screwing over several musicians out of songwriting royalties and credits. The very musicians that made it possible for Ozzy to even have a career. That's why his albums have been steadily going downhill for over two decades - of his main songwriters over the years only Zakk will still work with him.
It would certainly be nice to see Ozzy and Sharon disappear forever...

I just saw Ozzy headlining Chicago Open Air last year, and he and Zakk put on a great show. I think I paid $20 for that ticket though (which also included Stone Sour, along with Slayer, Amon Amarth, Lamb of God, Hellyeah, etc), so I have to really consider whether to pay the current pricing for this show. Waiting to see if there will be a Ozzy & Zakk meet and greet option.

Ozzy's talents lie in having a very pleasant singing voice even if it isn't consistent live to say the least, he is good with vocal melodies and he is a fantastic frontman with charisma out the ass. Black Sabbath very likely would not have been nearly as successful without him despite his lack of song writing ability or instrumental talent. They tried with multiple much more talented singers and it was a failure of varying degrees for all of them compared to Ozzy.
I think having charisma and being able to front a band and having that x factor that connects to people for whatever reason is just as important if not more so for success in the entertainment world than any musical talent or songwriting ability. It is a gift that most don't have.

Ummmm....
Sabbath put out (arguably) their best, and two of their best selling, albums AFTER Ozzy was fired.
Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules were outstanding albums that both sold as well as any Sabbath album not called Paranoid. And they were only that good and sold that well because Ozzy wasn't on them.
Ronnie James Dio was a better singer, a true songwriter (and a great one at that), and a fantastic frontman. Sabbath got better after Ozzy was fired, and their sales came back (after having a couple flop albums in a row with Ozzy).
Now if you want to argue that post Dio Sabbath floundered, sales wise, despite some great singers and albums, then you'd have a valid point...

Dehumanizer and The Devil You Know were great albums as well. I'm an Ozzy fan, but I'm not going to travel to one of these shows.

The Devil You Know was an incredibly bleak album. A combination of Dio’s aging voice and the downtuned guitar to compensate for it. I listened to it several times when it was released but haven’t revisited since then.

How many farewell tours have there been between Ozzy & Sabbath? 20? Didn't he do his first farewell tour in the early 90's?

I actually won a pair of tickets to the September 6th show, outside of Boston. Looking forward to it, as it will be my first time seeing Ozzy and it is also going to be my son's first concert.
