I saw David Byrne live at the Disneyland House Blues around 2001 or 2002. He’d just done Look Into the Eyeball. Great concert. But there were like 200 people there. You could just walk up to the front and give him a high five if you wanted. Why is there suddenly this massive demand? 5 months of touring in 1,500+ seat venues? Good for him, but what’s the deal? Where’d this massive David Byrne fandom come from?

I don’t think the old House of Blues could hold that many people. No way. It was just standing room/dance floor.
EDIT: Oh, I get what you mean now. I didn’t realize there’s a new House of Blues. The old one was torn down a year or two ago. Anyone know the old capacity? It was a small place.
Okay, I looked it up. It was 1,100. And it was 90% standing room and a a few tables and a bar. And I’d say it was only half full that night. So 500 people I guess.
Anyway. Why the resurgence?

Regarding you're question... I don't know. I guess having a decent gap in touring builds up demand.

They may have sent me the email before, but they re-sent it today and I redeemed it (and sent an extra code to a friend). Thanks for the heads-up. When I saw an email from Nonesuch Store, I now knew it wasn't Spam.

I saw him the night before Vegas in San Diego and Dex wasn't off-base. Certainly one of the best shows I've seen in a long time.

Definitely considering seeing this. Although I'm disappointed not to see Making Flippy Floppy on the setlist.

Great show in Houston the other night. I thought the Talking Heads songs that he is playing are well-chosen for this lineup. The only thing I would have added is Cities as it would be perfect on this tour (it is also may favorite Fear Of Music song) and maybe Road To Nowhere. Crosseyed And Painless would work really well also. Interestingly, I think that the 2 Heads songs that were least effective artistically speaking were the 2 most well-known, Once In A Lifetime and Burning Down The House. I have never thought that Once In A Lifetime comes off very well live, as it seems to drag along and they can't really mimic the rhythm of the original recording. Of course these 2 brought the biggest cheers so I know why they play them. My only other comment is that I wish they would have been a little more varied with the lighting and shadows. I thought 3 of the best songs were I Should Watch TV, Blind, and Bullet, when they went away from the blue/white fully lit stage.

Yeah, Road to Nowhere would have been awesome with that drumming set up and all those folks on stage. Was a little disappointed it wasn't in the set.
