Seriously...WTF...I have no idea what Zombies, Eurthymics, and J. Geils Band have to get more votes than Depeche Mode. I would even say over Dire Straits, but that's liable to piss a few off. DM was screwed big time, they sell a ton of tickets (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ars-ed-sheeran) every time they go on tour and have fantastic music. I know plenty disagree, but numbers are numbers folks.

I like pre-Brothers in Arms Dire Straits (BIA was so overplayed and half of it sold out for radio hits). Love Over Gold is simply a masterpiece, and they had some great songs prior to that album.

However, I think Mark Knopfler deserves an induction just for his solo work - even if you don't include his numerous soundtrack work.

You're joking, but according to Wikipedia, only Bing Crosby and Elton John have had singles which sold more physical copies than Mungo Jerry's In the Summertime. If sales figures are a criteria, they're in.

Re: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2018 nominees

I’m watching the show on hbo now and I still can’t believe BonJovi is in ahead of all the bands nmentioned in this topic let alone getting into the hall of music at all.

BonJovi a hall of fame band?

Before Tull, Priest etc. ugh

And yet the humble bloke said FU to the RRHF and skipped the ceremony. When I watched the ceremony on HBO I thought for sure he must be very ill, nope, he just cant be bothered to show up to the award ceremony.

They are more deserving than Cheap Trick or Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Watched this recently & was wondering whats up with Ric Ocasik sounding like Kermit the Frog? Love The Cars but his performance was hard to watch. Is it just due to his age?

So many bands that should have been in years ago...

Jethro Tull
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
The Smiths
The Cure
Depeche Mode

I'm sure a lot of it is due to age, but Ocasek was never known as a energetic live performer. The whole band, really. There's a reason there's no Cars Come Alive, The Cars Live at Budokan, Cars Live Killers, Cars Alive, Cars Live at Red Rocks, etc, album.

I didn't say anything about their energy. At their age I don't expect much. However, there must be a reason for his singing sounding like Bob Dylan doing a Kermit the Frog impression.

They did not sing "Magic" and I am pissed

Surprise the Cars got inducted since they only existed in the 80's and MIA in the 90's and 2000's.

The Cars were very successful, super influential on many bands (Nirvana, The Killers, Weezer), were completely groundbreaking with the videos, and was one band that crossed genres and fans. Rockers, Punkers, New Wavers, etc...all liked the Cars.
