No offense, but I'm glad it's not up to you. Radiohead is more important and influential than all 6 of those put together.

I'm a fan, and agree they should get in. I just think older deserving artists should get in first.

Rage is one of the best love shows I have ever seen. I’m shocked as well Bon Jovi is not already in.

They had a bunch of hits, but they're critically reviled. They are not a well-respected band in the annals of Rock history. That said, for a long time that was the case with such artists as KISS, Hall & Oats, Journey and Chicago and they're all in now. I think it's just a matter of time -- showing that they waited their fair time in the penalty box to clearly distinguish them from the first-ballot guys like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Guns n Roses and (I assume) Radiohead.

Re: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2018 nominees

I assume the current political climate will help Rage's case, but they have no business being elected on their first ballot, or before a bunch of other artists. At some point volume of great output has to count for something. Their first album is a classic. Evil Empire was still quite good, but doesn't hold a candle to the debut. Battle Of Los Angeles was just OK and their final output was a lame covers album. Their career is perfectly summed up as a case of diminishing returns.

So funny how people feel so differently about music and artists in general. I think Radiohead is one of the most overrated bands in history.

I would rather listen to and see every other one of those 6 artists before Radiohead. I fail to see this supposed huge importance or influence on culture as a whole. They are a niche art band who happened to have a few songs sort of connect to the mainstream for a very brief period.

But YMMV, so I don't have any objection to them going in but I think the other bands listed are more worthy at this time.

Barely a "few" there too.... statistically speaking on the billboard singles chart, their only Top 40s were Creep (#34) and Nude (#37)

Should they go in? Sure whatever. I'm not a fan but have no objection to them getting recognition. But Bon Jovi needs to get in too. Sometimes, you've gotta reward accomplishment. Heck, that what gets you in sports hall of fames... on-the-field accomplishments. Not "influence."

Kate Bush, Judas Priest and the Moody Blues for me. Maybe the Cars and MC5 at a push. But I'd give a big no to RATM and Radiohead.

I found a YouTube video of the Top Women Rock Guitarists and she was included.

Gotta disagree there, even if only for Odessey and Oracle, which is one of the great albums of the 60's.

Re: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2018 nominees

My roster from this year's nominees would be:

The Cars
Kate Bush
Nina Simone
Depeche Mode
Moody Blues

Not on the list but overdue:

Nick Lowe
Nilsson
Blue Oyster Cult

I saw an interview with Jon Bon Jovi recently and he said the band will not get in HOF with the current board of voters. He made some comments about 2 of the voters in the past that have pretty much blackballed them from the HOF. He said one of the voters is on a personal crusade to keep them out. Now this is his side of the story so take it with a grain of salt.

Really? Did they help invent - and singlehandedly DEFINE - a genre?

I don't think so.

Sounds like you don't really get the impact Judas Priest had on music.

Somewhat obscure, darling of critics. Another who is similar is Marc Bolan(T Rex).

I'm only familiar with the classic rock artists and think they all deserve to get in. Moody Blues, Link Wray and Bon Jovi are no brainers to me. I'd like to see Zombies get in too. They were short lived and didn't have a lot of output, but they were one of the best Invasion bands as far as quality, two of the best and well known hits of the sixties, and one of the best albums of the sixties.

Artists I feel have been overlooked
Steppenwolf
Guess Who
Faces
Three Dog Night
Jethro Tull
Johnny Winter
Ten Years After
John Mayall

I can't help but think there are people who would say these exact words about the The Velvet Underground. It's one thing to not subjectively connect with a band's aesthetic, but it's entirely another to deny their impact and influence, which can be more objectively observed (or at least, compellingly argued in a countless articles one can find with a google search).

You know that the winner of the fan vote doesn't automatically get in, right? They only get a single extra vote added to any other votes they received.

The Meters deserve a place. This is at least their second nomination. Seminal funk band with a ton of amazing songs.

And still no Richard Thompson.

(Btw...Vol. 2 of "Acoustic Classics" is now out...and it's spectacular. Maybe even better than vol. 1 since that was mostly a best-of or favorites and this is mostly deep cuts).

Still waiting on Parliament and Little Feat.

Likely gonna be waiting a long, long while. But at least I lived long enough to see ELO get in, so I guess there's always hope.

Absolutely agreed. If the only thing people remember the Zombies for are a couple of singles, they're missing out.

Bon Jovi is the greatest band ever and should have been in when rock n roll hall of fame started
