I thought this was interesting. But their algorithm was off about a lot of stuff for me. Some was right, though.

I'd estimate that less than 1/3 were what I actually listened to back then. I'm not really sure what they are basing their algorithm on, because even based on what I listen to today, I wouldn't have listened to most of it 20 years ago.

Mine is great. Lots of 80s hair, with some Prince and alternative (Love & Rockets, REM) sprinkled in.

Mine is great as well. Lots of mid to late 90s jams for me. Although it included a 30 second interlude track from a hip hop album.

I think Spotify thinks I am about 10 years older than I am, I still enjoyed the Time Capsule tho

I don't subscribe to Spotify nor do I know exactly what Spotify does, so I can't do the time capsule. But I'm curious. How does it know what you listened to in your teen years? I listened to a lot of soundtrack albums (Ennio Morricone, Elmer Bernstein, Bernard Herrmann, plus "West Side Story") back then. Would those songs/themes pop up if they did a list for me? And how would they know?

Re: Spotify - "Your Time Capsule"

When I first joined Spotify over 2 years ago I made playlists from 1965(the year I began listening to music on a regular basis) up until present day.

If I heard a song I liked,I would Google it and check when it was released and then add it to the correct playlist.

Spotify apparently thinks I'm a gay man in the 1980s. I admit I grew up listening to OMD, Human League, Visage, etc. But most of the tracks on my Time Capsule are stuff like The Communards, Bronski Beat, Erasure, Book of Love, FGTH, etc. And oddly, in the middle of all this, there's Faster Pussycat's "Bathroom Wall". Bizarre. Oh, and Drivin' N' Cryin's "Scarred But Smarter" - which is actually spot-on, me being from Atlanta and all. But still. What a weird mix of stuff!

I listened to way too much folklore by Taylor Swift this year.

Damn, I was looking forward to a brutal evaluation, but the tool got stuck on "42,381 indicators". Might be my old computer.

I don’t know how y’all are doing the copy/paste, but mine is pretty close but has a few oddities as well.
Some of my top bands are:
Phish
TOOL
Rage Against the Machine
Dave Matthews Band
Nirvana
Tom Petty
Metallica
Alice in Chains

The oddities are mostly country like Travis Tritt and Dixie Chicks. I’ve never been into country (although admittedly do like bluegrass in small doses so Dixie Chicks kinda fits, I guess).
