The ORIGINAL Misfits -- L.A. Show 12/30/17 at The Forum!

Quote:
Following the Misfits' surprise reunion with former vocalist Glenn Danzig in 2016, the horror-punk group's "original" lineup will perform once more at a Los Angeles concert this December.

Tickets for the concert, billed as the Misfits' only show of 2017, go on sale Friday at Ticketmaster. "Very special guests" will be added to the lineup at a later date.

"OK Los Angeles, you've waited almost 35 years for this, here's your chance to see the 'Original Misfits' in this exclusive L.A. only performance," Danzig said in a statement. "No tour, no BS, just one night of dark metal-punk hardcore brutality that will go down in the history books. See you there."

Only added, "The Misfits were so far ahead of their time when we began back in 1977, that it took the world 40 years to catch up. That time has come, and that time is NOW... We intend to take you on a ride back in time, and into the future to experience 100% authentic punk rock at its essence, and the origin of thrash in its purist form. History will be made—again. Prepare to be devastated..."

After leaving Misfits in 1983, Danzig reunited with Only and Doyle in 2016 for a pair of Riot Fest shows in Chicago and Denver.

"I don't think people should question it too much," Danzig told Rolling Stone before the gigs. "It may have never happened, but it is going to happen for at least two shows. We'll see how it goes. It may lead to some other work, but who knows how it's going to turn out?" He pauses. "I mean, I don't think it's going to be a disaster; I think it's going to be incredible."

Following the triumphant reunion shows, the singer returned to his Danzig for Black Laden Crown. However, he kept open the possibility of more Misfits shows when he spoke to Rolling Stone in May.

"I'm open to possibly doing some more shows," Danzig said. "I don't want to tour, but if it happens and everything lines up properly, I would imagine there'd probably be a couple more shows. I don't know when, but I'll keep an open mind."

I'd totally go -- but would imagine if you're not in the pit or GA area then you're quite screwed. And at The Forum -- I did not expect that at all.

I was thinking of hitting this up but I'm reading cheapest tickets are $100. With the support that has been added it's almost a comical price. If I have had to debate paying $140 for Ozzfest then it's a no brainer this isn't for me.

Oh man, I really hope they do a show closer to me next year.

Yeah, the price point is a turn-off -- it's quite optimistic to see that they went for The Forum -- they would have to be insanely confident that they're going to sell it out or just have a big crowd. The last time I saw a show at The Forum was for Rammstein and AC/DC. now those were two sold-out shows.

Still waiting for the hometown NY/NJ show, I'm sure it's coming soon.

Oh man, FUCK those prices. I've seen Glenn and Doyle do Misfits material half a dozen times. I'm good. Glenn wrote all of those songs anyway. Adding Jerry Only on stage isn't worth an extra $100+.

Yeah, I've seen Doyle open up for Mushroomhead a couple of years ago and have seen Jerry Only's Misfits open up for Alice Cooper -- never seen Danzig live, though. I cannot justify those prices. Hell, I was going to see Doyle again at The Whiskey before they canceled that leg of the tour to open up for GWAR. Hell, I may go see GWAR at The Fonda instead. It will be cheaper.

Didn't know it was that expensive. For $30 or less, I've also seen Glenn and Doyle do Misfits material a bunch of times so I'm fine if I can't see this. Most I'd pay is $50.

Wish he'd do another Samhain reunion, this time with Damien and London May. Oh well.

London was part of the last Samhain reunion. I don't remember if Damien played, though.

My thoughts exactly. I was totally excited when I saw the announcement, then saw the price ranges. Give me a break! This isn't Guns "N Roses, guys.

Doh!!! How stupid of me I was there, I meant Damien and Eerie Von. And of course London May on drums.

The November Coming Fire lineup.

Oh yeah, I would do the six hour drive for that.

That would be great too, but aren't Danzig and Eerie still on the outs?

I just saw that Doyle posted on his Instagram account that the show sold-out. Shit, I was not expecting that.

I was going to try to get tickets to this show, but it was way too expensive. I was going to aim for nosebleeds so I can at least say that I was there, but those were gone during the presales. People are reselling tickets for ridiculous prices. Hopefully they'll add another show.

thats fucking insane. It really makes me think, The Ramones spent 20 years playing bars, bingo halls, recreation centers and every dive in America, never making a dime. Then, all four of them die. Now, in todays musical climate I think they could tour and sell out arenas. I mean if The Misfits can sell out The Forum. Life is a cruel joke.

Is Dave Lombardo going to drum at this gig as well?

Yes to Lombardo.

I saw their first show at the Denver Riot Fest. It was good. Having never seen any of them, aside from solo Danzig, I have nothing to compare it to.

Outside of Danzig solo Jerry/Doyle never made a shitload. I know Doyle goes back to work at his dad's machine plant every once in a while -- this may be the first time he and Jerry actually make some money.

Jerry has made money with the cover band he fronted and called The Misfits, also from merch royalties by slapping the skull on lunchboxes that are sold at Hot Topic.

We've talked about this before

Even you said you doubted Jerry was a millionaire.

Too bad he didn't write anything.

Don't understand this whole Misfits phenomena. I do like them a lot, but back in the day those guys were lucky if they could fill up a venue with 100 people.
