I guess Cornell's death had a big impact on him.

I just got an email for free tickets for a show of theirs this week.

Wow, WTF...left behind 6 kids...

Today would have been Cornell's birthday too

Hated their music but sad to hear. What's up with these musicians???

What the hell is going on? Another death by hanging. Could he have been depressed over the backlash of their new album? A lot of fans myself included hated their new generic pop sound.

Holy shit! I didn't care for their music, but Chester was a straight up GREAT guy. Such a fucking bummer!

Don't join STP.

Whoa. Damn...not as big as a fan as I was back in high school (remember listening to their debut album in 9th grade), but still had a soft spot for them.

That sucks. Never did get to meet him even though I could have. About 4 years ago I won a FB contest to see him and STP perform at some rehearsal spot in North Hollywood where they were going to perform for about 20 people before going on tour. I got lazy and didn't go. I've only seen Linking Park live once, because they were part of the Family Values Tour way back when STP with Scott Weiland headlined and Deadsy, Static-X, LP, and Staind opened up. That was some foreshadowing for sure unbeknownst to us at the time.

I was never really a fan but RIP. A friend of mine in school was a big fan of Linkin Park so they always make me think of him.

Poor guy. He tried so hard and got so far but in the end it didn't really matter.

Well that's depressing. I love their first three albums (Minutes to Midnight still gets plenty of play). I haven't really kept up with them since.

I too love their first three albums to this day. I even enjoyed some of the later albums, but because of shift in style, never enjoyed them as much as what came before.

They did some songs for the Transformers movies.

So cold

They were one of those rare rock/rap bands that were still successful after the early 2000's.

This shit pisses me off. If you've got issues get some help. Feel bad for the family he left behind.

Yeah, WTF? Six kids? Feel bd for them, not him, and I was a fan.

Depression doesn't really care about how many kids you have.

Usher has herpes, the lead singer of Linken Park killed himself, and OJ is getting paroled. It's been a pretty messed up Thursday.

He was sexually abused as a child which contributed to his drug/alcohol issues and depression.

Sad to hear. Never a huge fan of LP, but enjoyed several of their songs. Feel bad for his kids.

"Nobody Can Save Me"

I’m dancing with my demons
I’m hanging off the edge
Storm clouds gather beneath me
Waves break above my head
At first hallucination
I wanna fall wide awake now
You tell me it’s alright
Tell me I’m forgiven
Tonight
But nobody can save me now
I’m holding up a light
Chasing up the darkness inside
'Cause nobody can save me

Stare into this illusion
For answers yet to come
I chose a false solution
But nobody proved me wrong
At first hallucination
I wanna fall wide awake
Watch the ground giving way now
You tell me it’s alright
Tell me I’m forgiven
Tonight
But nobody can save me now
I’m holding up a light
I’m chasing up the darkness inside
'Cause nobody can save me

Been searching somewhere out there
For what’s been missing right here
I’ve been searching somewhere out there
For what’s been missing right here

I wanna fall wide awake now
So tell me it’s alright
Tell me I’m forgiven
Tonight
If only I can save me now
I’m holding up a light
Chasing up the darkness inside
And I don’t wanna let you down
But only I can save me

Been searching somewhere out there
For what’s been missing right here
Cry for help?

What the hell is up with the qualifiers on articles around the net? "I didn't like their music but..." "I was never a fan but..."

They sold 70 million albums to somebody. Is liking their music some badge of shame that I missed? It's weird to me that so many people would check an article on a person/band they don't like, let alone take the time to comment on it.

On the other hand, Linkin Park is/was one of my favorite bands. This really bums me out, especially since they had a pretty big hit recently.
