Halsey

A flash in the pan or a pop superstar who will join the ranks of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and others who we will be seeing for years?

Re: Halsey

She's popular now. Sold out a few Madison Square Garden shows last Summer/Fall. I've only seen her once in concert and she opened up for Metric and Imagine Dragons when I was in Boise in 2015. She got big really fast.

Re: Halsey

It seems she is in the verge of blowing up if not already.

Re: Halsey

She is now on the same level as other pop stars like Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande

She goes all out on the T&A here

I really liked what I heard on the Cameron Crowe show Roadies (spiritual successor to Almost Famous). It was just her and a guitar. Brief but good. I'd buy a full album like that. The pop stuff I have no use for though.

She is not afraid to show her underwear while dancing

Re: Halsey

So the big news of late is that for her 4th album (which came out yesterday) she got together with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross to produce it. Dave Grohl and Lindsey Buckingham also guest on the album.

I dig the new album. That is all.

Now she and Lorde are two artists who I don't like their new direction and new songs

Same. Really enjoyed her older stuff, but nothing from this new album.

Re: Halsey

I like the new album a lot, but I never really listened to her other ones, just the hit singles.

But I was a huge Trent/NIN fan, and you can hear his paw prints all over this from the opening seconds.

Good shit. I can see why it’s getting massive critical acclaim.

Re: Halsey

Never heard of her until I recently came across an interview with her with Trent Reznor who I'm a fan of on YouTube & gave it a watch so the other day when there was an article about her on Yahoo I decided to read it. They kept referring to her as "they / them". I figured it was Yahoo so it must just be typos but after looking her up on Wiki I found these are her preferred pronouns... along with "she / her".
I still don't fully understand the preferred pronoun thing in general but how could a beautiful woman (which I guess is irrelevant here) who's dated multiple men (& a woman or two) who is pregnant only consider herself a woman sometimes?

Re: Halsey

Looks liker her new or 2021 album was a colossal bust.

None of the songs got a lot of radio airplay and don't see her performing any of the new material anywhere.

It is not that she does not consider herself a woman. It's the idea that the insistence on using "he or she" and "him or her" forces a binary template on gender. The Yahoo writer had an agenda.

She just had a baby last year and has a massive tour coming up in a couple months.

Maybe a improvement from the last album but still kind of meh

Re: Halsey

I took my wife to see Halsey a few weeks back at our local music theater outside Detroit... it was great. She's not my kind of music but some of her songs are catchy. Halsey had a ton of energy, she has a message for sure and she has an excellent voice. I think she has some staying power -- especially considering this thread was created in 2017 and she's still going strong.

Re: Halsey

True but maybe those songs were from her earlier stuff and not from the album she released in 2021 where she was pregnant on the cover.

I think this song is swerve-your-car-into-the-median-so-you-can-the-radio-station bad. It very well might be my most-loathed hit-single since You Light Up My Life by Debbie Boone.

But that song was still better than her 2021 stuff

She has a new single and it is awful.

Maybe her best days are behind her?

Re: Halsey

If you have to cover Britney Spears and not even make it sound a little different, then you are artistically bankrupt.

Re: Halsey

I did not know it was a Britney Spears cover but how low can you go covering Britney Spears as if she is Joni Mitchell and this great artist.
