Heard this on NPR this morning, sad news. There isn't a ton of good soul music these days, and she made some.

she will be sorely missed, its not very often that we find a female singer that we can put right up there with Aretha Franklin and Etta James, for the serious music fans out there, that love to hear "real music", this year just keeps getting worse and worse
