I think a lot of those songs fall into the category of "I used to like it, but then it got played to death." Stop listening to stations that play things to death. You'll be happier.

Imagine is pretty terrible, but for me, nothing tops:
4 Non Blondes — What’s Up?
I hated that song the first time I heard it, and my opinion of it has only gone down.

If I had to pick one song from that list, it would without a doubt be "All Star" by Smashmouth. Terrible. I was like 13 or 14 when that song debuted and thought it was shitty even back then.

Odd list. One one hand, I would have absolutely voted for that Mr. Big song, but I find it hard to believe that multiple people picked Elbow's One Day Like This as their most hated song.

Exactly ... bad and overplayed are very different things. Songs like Yesterday, Dancing Queen, I Will Survive, Bohemian Rhapsody, You're So Vain, Stairway to Heaven (and many many others in this list) are classics in their genres. Just overplayed to the point where you want to change the station when they come on.
"Worst" are those "fingernails on the blackboard" songs, which a number of these are. Stuff like Hollaback Girl. Black Eyed Peas My Humps really belongs here (though the Alannis Morrisette cover is awesome).

I agree with most of the others. Ubiquity breeds contempt. "Imagine" is a gorgeous song, until one has heard it a thousand times.
Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" is one I find unbearably cloying. And it just goes on and on and on... and on. Something like "Who Let the Dogs Out" was annoying as all fuck the first time I heard it.

Eh, some of the songs on that list I really like, no matter how many times I've heard them, some I've detested from the first listen, and others I used to like until I got sick of them. It's all about taste. For the record, I do like "Imagine" though, it holds up for me.

I would think the most commonly hated songs would be popular dance songs. Many of them have no redeeming musical value beyond their rhythm to get people dancing. While they might be fine in a club setting, they aren't music anyone could listen to outside that setting.

Back to the point, I dislike for Imagine for its naivete and its socialism. Go figure, I hate that it is a political song.

I'm sure a lot of those songs are hated simply because they're over-played.
Imagine has a good melody, but the lyrics make me cringe.
Really don't know how "Who Let the Dogs Out" isn't on this list. A truly unbearable song.

Who Let the Dogs Out falls into the "worst songs of all time" category with crap like Seasons in the Sun and Afternoon Delight. Despite the title, this list is really just songs that people get sick of after a while. Overplayed, cloying, or just inconsequential. I don't think anyone could really argue that Belinda Carlisle's Circle in the Sand is the worst thing ever, but it's completely irrelevant and forgettable. I hadn't thought of it in years, but now i can hear the refrain in my head, and I'm already tired of it again. It's like a commercial jingle, and any nostalgia factor is more annoying that wistful.

Two songs I always hated as complete torture:
Blind Melon - No Rain
Fine Young Cannibals - She Drives Me Crazy

One of my 2 most hated songs is on the list, Starship — We Built This City, so the list gets my approval.
We Are The World should be on the list as well.
