I’d listen to Imagine 100 times on repeat before I’d listen to Shattered by Rolling Stones. That song is like nails on a chalkboard for me.

I think many songs simply have an annoyance factor that escalates more than others with the frequent airplay. Though I may like the band, there are a lot of songs on that list where I'll immediately turn the station if it comes on.

I don’t think Imagine is the best song ever or anything, but you haven’t heard a lot of music if you think it’s even close to the worst song of all time, or even one of them.

I think it's a beautiful song, both musically and conceptually, but I don't go out of my way to hear it, though I'm sure I, as a non-devotee of the Beatles, have heard it a fraction of the number of times most oldsters here have.

There is no worse song than "Telephone Man" by Meri Wilson. None.
Seriously...none.

Oh, and one song from that list, Wig Wam Bam by Sweet? It's dumber than dumb, and more than a little bit racist. But it's a great f'n song!

Anything with Auto-Tune is the worst song of all time.
Ugh. It makes my skin crawl.
I'm sure it can also be configured to do minor corrections, but the obnoxious way it's used in pop is just terrible.

Speaking of Dr Demento, I recently learned that Bill Mumy, the kid from Lost in Space, was half of Barnes and Barnes. Fishheads!

I can't stand "Hey Jude".
Didn't like it back then, and have never been impressed with any of it's Paul McCartney non-Bealtles renditions either.

Are you serious, NORML? What do you hate about it? It's all subjective of course, but I think it comes close to being one of the great epics of rock history, and I'm no Who devotee whatsoever. From the amazing synth beginning, to the throbbing bass backbeat, to Daltrey's incomparably resounding, deeply-felt vocals, the song is the embodiment of the word "anthem". I find it rhapsodic up to about 3:30. If the last 90 seconds had been a third repeat of the soaring verse and chorus rather than tapering off with wimpy guitar and violin doodling, it would have been one of the very top masterpieces of rock. That's just my take, but I'm curious to understand yours.

I think "Imagine" is a great song. Not John Lennon's best song - he did better songs with the Beatles - but still a great song. And I get tired of people labeling it as a song preaching "Communism". It isn't that, it's a hippy song which can superficially seem the same, but it's just idealistically looking at the world as it was a giant hippy commune. It's idealistic, much like Lennon's Beatles song "All You Need Is Love" is purely idealistic, but not realistic. Hence the title "Imagine".

How does this have any hate? It’s one of my favs of all time. There are even others who have covered and while certainly not nearly as good are still good bc of lyrics. When Sam (Scott Bakula) on Quantum Leap sang it to his sister of the person he leaped into and she cried bc this was before it came out, and couldn’t believe he could come up with a song so amazing and overwhelming has stayed with me to this day and in fact might be the reason I listened to and love Lennon’s version. This song is flawless.

It’s a naive song from a burned out guy whose music sucked by that point in his life. Maybe if he’d lived he would have had a Brian Wilson-like comeback, but he just sucked at the end.
