No. The difference between Jan Terri's "losing you" and Lennons "imagine" is that a professional could probably cover "losing you" and it the song could be good.
"Imagine" is as good as it's ever going to get and it's still the worst song of all time.
Someone could polish the turd that is "losing you."
There is no polishing "imagine."

Re: Is John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ the worst song of all time?
My first job was working concessions at an AMC movie theater. Over the speakers they would play CDs called "AMC MovieTunes." For what had to be a cruel joke, the first three months I worked there, EVERY CD had "What's Up?" on it. Which meant I had to hear that song at LEAST six times a day. For months. Finally it got rotated out over the fall, only to come back on ANOTHER CD around Thanksgiving.
23 years later and that song is still pure torture.

Having had past run-ins with danoogly, my thinking is he hates the song for its imploringly communitarian spirit.

"Imagine" is only surpassed by the superbly awful "Beach Baby" by First Class. Heard it again at the surprisingly depressing outing at Wendy's and they played this. Forgot how wretched it is and beyond horrible.

Are you serious, NORML? What do you hate about it? It's all subjective of course, but I think it comes close to being one of the great epics of rock history, and I'm no Who devotee whatsoever. From the amazing synth beginning, to the throbbing bass backbeat, to Daltrey's incomparably resounding, deeply-felt vocals, the song is the embodiment of the word "anthem". I find it rhapsodic up to about 3:30. If the last 90 seconds had been a third repeat of the soaring verse and chorus rather than tapering off with wimpy guitar and violin doodling, it would have been one of the very top masterpieces of rock. That's just my take, but I'm curious to understand yours.

'Tis the season to remind you all that Lennon's Christmas song may be even worse than Imagine.

Talk about a random bump, but I just saw Hamilton in Dallas and was searching for any discussion about that show here. And the search brought me this thread.
This is just a list of songs that people hate for whatever reason they may have. Sure, there are some really terrible songs here, but "Imagine" or "Baba O'Reilly" or "Mr. Jones" being the worst songs ever?
Just ridiculous.
And this thread was from 2016??? There is so much fucking tripe out there in this day and age, how can even 4 Non Blondes be considered worse than the shit that's come from the last decade?
And...… let's go...

Some of the songs from that list I agree with, some I've never heard of, and some I kind of like. One song that didn't make it on that list and should have is The Rolling Stones' Angie. I remember hearing that song for the first time the year I graduated from school in 1973, then they played that fucking thing thousands (if not millions) more times on the radio until I got so sick and tired of hearing it I turn the station when it comes on.
I see Stairway to Heaven made the list...

I think the list blew it by not including "Free Bird", or any other Lynyrd Skynyrd song.
Also, "Love Touch" by Rod Stewart should have made it in.
