"Scandalous". It's the sexiest song Prince has ever done IMO.

"Scandalous" I saw the movie 3 times at the theater and stayed through the credits twice just to listen to it. There was also "Electric Chair" which he played on SNL's 15th anniversary.

Fallon told the story about this but never thought we'd see the video. Cool to see so many other celebs in awe. Video shared by Tim Kazurinsky!

Re: Prince dead at 57. RIP

I have spoke in Prince threads several times here over the years. HUGE fan etc etc. Oddly enough I live where his plane landed for that emergency 6 days before he died. I knew he had the flu because shows were cancelled previously, but who would've known. If it does end up being some med issue it makes me so fucking angry that he got a free wake up call that night he landed here. And still it ended like it did. Tragic...

I have probably 900 prince cds stacks and stacks of dvds and to think he's gone now is beyond heartbreaking. I read through all your comments. What a shame huh...all the money one could want, had a wake up call week prior and yet here we all are...

Re: Prince dead at 57. RIP

Copies of Purple Rain in all formats are going for crazy prices right now- not just asking prices but people are actually bidding them up high. The crappy 1997 DVD is going for about $40 or so, the special edition and Blu-Rays even higher- looking at Amazon it seems the Blu-Ray at least is out of print. (I've got it, quality is pretty crappy.)

Re: Prince dead at 57. RIP

It sucks that people are taking advantage and jacking up prices, BUT, any real fan would already have those things by now (OOP stuff aside).

Re: Prince dead at 57. RIP

Rolling Stone just published a "lost" interview with Prince from 2014 and this part was fascinating:

Are there full unreleased albums?
Yeah, I like time capsule stuff. I have a couple Revolution albums in the vault and two Time albums, one Vanity 6 album … and tons of stuff recorded in different periods. But so much gets recorded that you don't have time to compile everything. In the future you could put all the best stuff from one particular time period together and then you can release it. It'd just be like if we found a Sly and the Family Stone album and they saved their best stuff. If that's even possible

I feel this guy nailed it. This is exactly what went down if you ask me. Read all the replies as well.

Shit, when I went to see him in 2004 they gave this CD to all who attended. It was in a slipcase envelope & not in a normal jewel case. Anyway, I gave it a few listens & didn't dig it too much so I gave it to a coworker who was a huge Prince fan.

When I was in 3rd grade, around the time Purple Rain was released, I bought it on cassette & listened to it non stop for days until one day it just disappeared. After tearing my bedroom apart looking for it I gave up & recorded whatever Purple Rain tracks they played on the radio onto a cassette. Years later I found it stashed in the very back of one of my kitchen cabinets. Apparently my mother thought Purple Rain was not appropriate for a 9-10 yr old to listen to. At least she didn't throw it away!

I kept it though hope it is still in good condition since it might be stacked on the bottom andunderneath a ton of cds and blu-rays

Maybe not now but you could have gotten the CD for around $5-$6 unless you already upgraded.

Re: Prince dead at 57. RIP

I don't think it's fair to blame Larry Graham and/or his religion for Prince no longer being with us. People deal with things differently, and when it comes down to it, Prince was just Prince, right up to the end. Prince choosing not to stay in the hospital when his plane landed had nothing to do with his religion, it was just Prince expecting to be treated preferentially. He could have gone to another hospital where his "need" for privacy could have been better accommodated, but he just flew home. Prince may not have committed suicide, but he killed himself.

Re: Prince dead at 57. RIP

I remember going to a few shows at Paisley Park 15 years ago or so. Late at night (wouldn't start until 2am-ish) and an intimate setting with maybe 50 people in the building. Prince might or might not actually make an appearance and play, but on a couple occasions he did where he'd jam for 45 mins or so. He was always nice and generous towards his fans.

An outdoor showing of Purple Rain was held at Target Field last night. A good friend of mine went and said it was a pretty neat event.

I've seen Prince around town a couple times over the years. Once at at a local record shop and on another occasion at a video store (remember those?) of all places.

Why would anyone spend $45 for it, when you can buy a new copy for under $9. I have a couple of sealed Purple Rain HD-DVDs in the closet & that is where it will stay.

People are afraid they won't make any more of them? You got me. I know they're gonna remaster it so I don't mind selling mine off.

Probably a repost, but SiriusXm channel 50 is playing Prince and songs written by him all weekend long (at least).

Batman soundtrack isn't on iTunes? The apple.com page just seems to redirect me somewhere else.

But it's there on Amazon.

Never heard of this Tidal streaming service before.

Tidal supposedly has very high quality streams compared to other streaming services. Kinda pricy compared to those as well.
