Re: Post a song you like or love.

One of my favorite bands is Uriah Heep. They had some success in the U.S. in the 70's, and a little success for a couple years in the 80's. Funny thing, though, since 1995 they've been putting out great albums and have really hit a groove as far as songwriting and performing goes. Their latest album, Living The Dream, is arguably the best album of 2018.

This song comes from the album that really started this run. The album was Sea of Light, and it is phenomenal. This is the lead track, and I love it!

Re: Post a song you like or love.

I really don't think I've paid attention to Uriah Heep since buying Look At Yourself sometime in the '80s.

I just listened to the song you posted, and while it's not my type of music, these days, I have to say it's pretty good!

Re: Post a song you like or love.

Here's a band that most people never knew existed. In a Post-Twisted Sister world Dee Snider put a band together with Bernie Torme called Desperado. They got signed to Elektra, recorded an album that was universally praised by the people that heard it - then got shelved for almost a decade when the new regime at Elektra decided that it didn't fit in with the direction the label wanted to follow at that point.

With the album owned by Elektra, and the music on it partially owned by the label (so they couldn't just re-record it for another record company), the band folded. Which led to Snider's next band, Widowmaker, which featured Desperado bass player Marc Russell, Alice Cooper (and future Megadeth) guitarist Al Pitrelli, and drummer Joe Franco (of the Good Rats and Twisted Sister's last studio album, Love Is For Suckers).

The album, Blood and Bullets was REALLY good, but it came out a year or two too late. Music was starting to shift, and Widowmaker was on a middling label in terms of money and distribution. The album came and went with very little fanfare, and disappointing sales.

But those that bought it loved it.

And this is the song the band took their name from...

Re: Post a song you like or love.

I've posted this beautiful tune before, perhaps even in this thread (I googled), but it's a top-5 favourite of mine. From the precise composition to the virtuoso instrumentation, to the impassioned vocals, it's virtually a perfect song.

Re: Post a song you like or love.

Someone finally posted this cool song by Gerard McMahon from his 1981 album Blue Rue. Should have been a hit. "Blind Love":

And this is another good song by McMahon called "Untame the Song":

How about a change of pace with this classical piece, Antonín Dvořák's glorious Humoresque Opus 101:

I'll match your Blind Love and raise you Tom Wait's "Blind Love":

I'll also change things up with a little Art Blakey's and "Moanin'"

Just a great track from this legendary group. Loved the solo between Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord.

I like Tom Waits, but I like McMahon's "Blind Love" a lot more than Waits's.

No One Came
That's a great song. It's been on my car stereo playlist for 30 years. Back when that playlist was recorded on CASSETTE!!!

Re: Post a song you like or love.

OK, here's my SECOND favorite Van Halen song.

It was reworked for A Different Kind of Truth (as, "Outta Space," which was still great), but I like this version better. It SHOULD have been the opening track for Van Halen II.

Another gem from Lightfoot, "Old Dan's Records":

Classic '80s synth-pop (though from 2015) from Howard Johnson. "Hold On to Your Heart":

Re: Post a song you like or love.

I know this era is Chrissie's least favorite band line-up of the Pretenders. And it's not a very good album overall. But it did produce two great tracks. "Don't Get Me Wrong" and this beautiful gem.

Not sure why, but this has been my earworm lately. Kinda starts off with sort of an INXS feel and goes into a pop kind of mish mash of 80's/90's rock/alt rock.
