^With Cockburn you're really speaking my language, dipper, though I don't care for that particular song. I also haven't liked his last couple of albums. He's one of the greatest, and can be spoken of in the same breath as Dylan. Both are first-rate poets.

I don't think we have had any Plimsouls in here yet. "Magic Touch", which is my second-favourite song on Everywhere at Once ( and, no, my favourite is not "A Million Miles Away"):

Re: Post a song you like or love.

Might have posted this song before (the version used in Justified by Darryl Scott, the songwriter), but the song is one of the all-time greats and I love this version by Red Molly.

I don't think I have posted this here yet. It's my favourite Rodriguez song. The lyrics are just great.

"She's Driving Me Crazy", a nice tune by The Rubinoos:

Re: Post a song you like or love.

The other day I got a wild hair to look up an old song, don't even remember what the original search was for. One search led to another and I ended up with a song I hadn't heard in ages. I have the album, just haven't listened to it for years. I used to really like this song, and listening to it again reminded me of why I liked it. The band is Audience, song/album is titled House on the Hill (1971). Crank it up, hope you like it...

The full album cover...

Song: Judas. Group: Fozzy
Song: Notorious. Group: Adelitas Way
Song: Novacaine. Group: 10 Years

These are a few of the songs currently in heavy rotation on Sirius's Octane channel that have not worn out their welcome.

Re: Post a song you like or love.

Good tunes, Perkinsun and mspmms. The opening guitar riff of the Talking heads song sounds so familiar. I wonder if it was ever used in a commercial or as a TV show intro.

Not sure about commercials but it has been used in several movies - covered by Wailing Souls for the 1993 movie Cool Runnings (see spoiler below) . Used in a trailer for the 2003 animated film Brother Bear and was also featured in trailers for the 2006 animated film Over the Hedge, at the beginning of the 2006 animated film Open Season, and was included on the Open Season soundtrack CD.

Re: Post a song you like or love.

No, it's not any of those, but holy crap is it ever extremely familiar. Not so much the song itself, but the riff. I'm leaning more towards the intro of a TV show that I would have watched frequently at some point in the past.
A local TV station used the theme of Rocky (believe it or not) for its newscast back in the '80s, so I'm thinking it might have been something like a local newscast.
Spoiler:

Zounds, this shit is embarrassing (generally dreadful "all style, no substance" newscast too, incidentally):

I'm not certain I haven't posted this Artful Dodger tune in here already, but it's a good tune. "Wayside":

One of Billy Joel's nicest piano compositions is "Summer, Highland Falls":
