Finally got around to watching it and don't think this track is a good one to grab onto for new listeners. It's experimental as fuck. Personally, I didn't care for the first part of it - the whole bass 'n drums stuff was not for me but the middle and end parts were cool.

Something tells me the goal of album 25 likely isn't to entice new listeners.

There is no one song that tells what David Bowie is all about. I think that track does a great job of showing what Bowie's all about right now. His experimental side has always been an important part of his work and I'm glad to see him indulging it.

Right, and? All I'm saying is that folks that are even curious as to what Bowie is all about should start with other tunes of his. Hell, I'm Afraid of Americans is a much easier track to get into than Blackstar. IMO
Personally, if I wasn't already a fan, I'd say Blackstar would not make me one.

I'm a Bowie fan. I like the Blackstar tune, but it does get a bit repetitive in parts.
Listening to it on its own is MUCH better than listening/watching the video for me. The video takes away the feeling from it IMO.

I didn't realize Michael C. Hall was playing and singing the songs in the Lazarus play in NYC. Hearing it's really good.
He performed one of the songs on Stephen Colbert recently, and it was really good.
If someone can find it, please post the video from Colbert.

So I don't understand. How are they connected? Is it some kind of meta thing?

Had a chance to listen to the whole album today. Great stuff. Much better than the bulk of The Next Day album. Especially the expanded stuff added as The Next Day Extra.
But I am surprised there isn't as much going on about the production sound of the album given how much I have seen people post about bad production on other albums. Seemed very flat with very little low end and distorted highs.

I checked the tracking on mine and it says it's in "pre-shipment" phase, whatever the fuck that means.

Yeah but not so much when you see that Disney wants $50 for Force Awkanes!
And I wanted a guaranteed clear copy I guess.

Yeah, $32 after tax/shipping. I buy almost all of my records used for a few bucks so I'm not opposed to buying one or two albums at a higher price throughout the year.
