Heading to my local shop just before 9am. Don't expect much of a line.

I'm looking to get Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible (picture disc)

If anybody can pick one up for me, or can point me to where to order one, I'd REALLY appreciate it!

Picked up about half of what I was after. The Kinks EPs and The Darjeeling Limited OST. Missed The Foos and the Psycho EP.

Re: Record Store Day--Sat 4/18/15

Strike out for me. I only wanted to pick up the 10th anniversary of The Decemberists Picaresque. Went to the closest store that was showing as participating. Waited in line about 45 minutes to get into the store. They didn't get any of that album. Called 8 other local ones in my area. 2 said they sold out and didn't get many copies in. The other 6 did not get any at all. I guess I don't understand how the day works as I figured that the stores that listed themselves as participating should have gotten in at least all of the releases?

Guess it was not meant to be. Oh well.

Re: Record Store Day--Sat 4/18/15

I hear ya. Participating stores select what releases they'll have, which likely won't be everything. Check out Discogs or eBay. Aftermarket prices aren't too bad for some.

Went to Hear it Again in Gainesville, picked up Social Distortion, Happy Mondays, U2 12", Prodigy & Johnny Marr 7". Only missed out on the Mighty Bosstones. Not too bad for what I was looking for.

I just got one from my local store (in the afternoon, after the crowds died down), and they had at least 5 more copies that didn't look like they were moving (I talked to the store owner about why MSP is such a tough sale in the US, we couldn't figure it out). Cool looking disc and it sounds great, I just wish it was the US mix (inexplicably, the UK gets the US mix today)

Anyways, here's their info: http://www.recordstoreday.com/Venue/7147
Couldn't hurt to call/email them to see if they can send you one.
(they don't have a website)

Re: Record Store Day--Sat 4/18/15

I won my local stores contest to get to go in store first (head of the line) and get 5 minutes to shop before anyone else. I was there at 4:45am (store opened at 5am) I got...

U2 SOI delxue
Foo 10"
Johnny Cash Live in Prague
White Stripes GBMS
Garbage
Elvis 10" (thought that was only gonna be sold at TMR)
Psycho 7"
X 7"
Grandmaster Flash / Stiff Little Fingers 7"
Metallica Cassette

Plus they gave me a huge goodie bag with another couple vinyls, a bunch of CD's, RSD promo CDs, buttons and three t-shirts. Plus some posters including a cool RSD one. Was out the door by 5:10am

Re: Record Store Day--Sat 4/18/15

I'd like the Foo Fighters release but we don't have a record store so I'll have to search eBay. I'm not really a fan of the Record Store Day exclusives because a lot of them are just bought up by people who only want them to scalp for ridiculous prices.

Yeah, Record Store Day is really bullshit. The exclusives are too limited, aren't available at all participating stores, and the whole thing just plays right into the hands of flippers.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, but this is a shit-poor way to promote indie record stores.

If I go to three different record stores looking for a dertain release and leave them all empty-handed because the ten copies they each got of the record I wanted sold out to some guy who's going to put them up on eBay, I am not going to be particularly enamored with the record stores.

Thank you so much for the info, I've just emailed them! Hopefully this turns up with good news

Re: Record Store Day--Sat 4/18/15

I didn't go anywhere, but a friend spent HOURS in line at Amoeba Hollywood, and he was nice enough to grab me Metallica - No Life Till Leather and Mastodon - Atlanta. Might try to find a Shogun Assassin tomorrow, but I already have a first pressing of that so no real rush or incentive. That Psycho 7" looked cool but I heard it went really quickly.

I also picked up the Gram Parsons 7" and it was pink but on the back of it there is a whole area that they didn't color pink, so I have a defective color job.

Rolled into my local shop at around 10am. There was still a line out the door two hours after opening. I got:

Zombies - RIP
Miles Davis 10" box
White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan
Neko Case - Fox Confessor
Shugo Tokumaru - LST
Bob Dylan - Basement Tape 130g
Dresden Dolls - The Virginia Monologues
The Autumn Defense
Replacements 10"

7" Syd Barrett
Frank Zappa
Robyn Hitchcock

Pretty much everything I wanted.

Re: Record Store Day--Sat 4/18/15

I went to a few stores later (>3PM), and didn't find any RSD exclusives that interested me. But really, none of the titles listed really wowed me anyway, even if they were in stock by the time I got there. Still, I did pick up a new record by Death called N.E.W. Looking forward to spinning it.

Yeah, I HATE record store day. It started out as something kind of cool, but like most things in life, it was ruined by assholes.

Now it's the one day of the year I avoid my local record store. Kind of ironic.

Sounds like what Free Comic Book Day has become...at least the ruined by assholes part.

I missed out on the Frank soundtrack. Is it hard to find around your area? Just checking before I get one on ebay.

In Columbus Ohio, both stores I went to on Sunday still had Frank soundtracks for $30.

Heads up that http://www.bullmoose.com usually has lots of leftover merchandise they post online at noon.

Not a single asshole ruined my record store day. How exactly do they ruin it for you?
