Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

That's a pretty damn intense tour for less than 3 months. Like 36 cities. Hope they can handle it to LA.

In for 5/24, Tampa FL. Hoping it's an indoor show but doubtful.

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

With the high prices, my interest in Rush tours is completely setlist-dependent these days. I loved the last one, with all of the Signals thru Power Windows stuff. On the other hand, the Time Machine setlist was mostly unappealing to me.

Has there been any chatter as to what they may be playing on this one?

Expecting an update to the R30 format. Career spanning best of show including multiple medleys to squeeze in more songs.

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

I remember seeing them several years ago and do not recall them playing any songs more recent than Roll The Bones.

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

Example R30 tour set list from the BD.

1."R30 Overture" - ("Finding My Way", "Anthem", "Bastille Day", "A Passage to Bangkok", "Cygnus X-1", "Hemispheres")
2."The Spirit of Radio"
3."Force Ten"
4."Animate"
5."Subdivisions"
6."Earthshine"
7."Red Barchetta"
8."Roll the Bones"
9."Bravado"
10."YYZ"
11."The Trees"
12."The Seeker"
13."One Little Victory"
14."Tom Sawyer"
15."Dreamline"
16."Secret Touch"
17."Between the Wheels"
18."Mystic Rhythms"
19."Red Sector A"
20."Der Trommler"
21."Resist"
22."Heart Full of Soul"
23."2112" ("Overture"/"Temples of Syrinx"/"Grand Finale")
24."La Villa Strangiato"
25."By-Tor and the Snow Dog"
26."Xanadu" (abbreviated version)
27."Working Man"
28."Summertime Blues"
29."Crossroads"
30."Limelight"

I would expect the cover songs from "Feedback" to replaced by one ore more cuts from both "Snakes and Arrows" and "Clockwork Angels". The song selection from the older albums will likely be switched up a little as well. Would love to see songs like "Circumstances" and "Territories" replace the usual selections from those albums.

Both of those were played on recent tours. A decent number songs like that are what it takes to get me in the building. I thought the R30 set was unremarkable. In fact, it was that tour that got me to where I am today, where I need to see the set before I commit the cash. As such, I skipped Time Machine and second leg of the Snakes & Arrows tours but attended the Clockwork Angels and first leg of the Snakes & Arrows tours.

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

Yeah, with a band like Rush with such a massive catalog of songs, it's pretty much impossible to please everyone. I prefer to hear some deeper album cuts, but others just want to hear Tom Sawyer over and over. I don't know how they'll do it this time around. Like cdollaz, I think I'll wait until the first few shows pass before I buy my tickets. No way Rush sells out the hockey arena here... but who knows...

You're right. I haven't seen a show of theirs in a very long time. I just follow the CD and video releases after the fact.

How about "Something for Nothing" and "In The End"?

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

I'm guessing this will be a greatest hits show. Not really a farewell tour, but something they can leave fans satisfied with if they decide to not continue after this.

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

Yeah, I think this will be their last tour. I know Neil Peart has said a few times that touring is hard on them nowadays. I'll definitely be hitting the Chicago show.

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

Being that they are all now in their 60's, I would not be surprised if this is their final tour. I have to say that for their age they put some younger bands to shame by playing 2 1/2 hour sets with drums solos and an array of complex material.

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

Against my better judgement I went with VIP tickets again (I got a great 5th row seat for Clockwork Angels with the VIP package). I tried via the regular ticket pre-sale and all I was getting was row 20 and back on the sides.

I'd love to hear them play stuff like Chain Lightning, The Weapon, Beneath-Between-Behind, Lock and Key.

But, any chance to see the boys is a good one. I've managed to catch them on every starting with Power Windows. I did miss Vapor Trails but caught them twice for Snakes and Arrows to make up for it

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

I'd like to see them but I dunno if I'll make it. Sort of short notice for a show in May for me. I was supposed to see them twice before but missed out both times. One of the times I actually had tickets but the person I was going with dropped out at the last minute and I couldn't find anyone else to go with. In hindsight I should have just gone alone but decided against it.

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

Did anyone else notice this from their official site?

"Rush is ready to celebrate with the most loyal fans in the world by embarking on their 21st tour, one which will most likely be their last major tour of this magnitude. "

The boys are getting up there, after all.

Yeah I saw this. To be honest, every tour for the past 20 years has had that possibility. They always seem to be ready to pack it in. However, I took it as we'll still tour... but we just won't hit as many cities. To me that at least means L.A. is safe.

Gotta make these:
07/30 – Irvine Meadows, CA @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre
08/01 – Los Angeles, CA @ The Forum

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

Gold VIP presale for Austin was a complete waste. Don't know why I bothered.

I'm sure this shit will magically turn up in Live Nation's premium seat section.

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

I wouldn't count on there even being another "tour" again. It's Neil that's probably wanting to move on to doing "tours" of his own (motorcycle). But I can see them doing like 10 dates around the world every few years. LA, NY, Rio, etc.

Given that, I made the decision with a friend to make the Seattle date but nothing says when they will go on sale.

While I did pick up a Gold VIP package I checked yesterday's pre-sale and the closest I could get was section D Row 23 (on the floor). After the fees it was almost $200 for one ticket. So, row 1-10 for what may be the last time Rush rolls through Houston, made me feel better about the expenditure.

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

I was able to pick up semi-crappy tickets in the Citi Presale (upper deck, but only five rows back) for $88 a piece. I count that as a win.

Would like to be closer, but at least I'll be there.

I got two tickets in the upper deck for 61 and change apiece. It took about 10 minutes to get through but glad that we will be there.

I purchased similar tickets today for the Seattle show. So glad there was a cheaper $62 option. We're literally in the last row of the upper section facing the stage.

Re: RUSH - 40th Anniversary Tour!

The Citi presale yielded NOTHING for Tampa, so I ended up Stubhubbing some lvl 103 tix. Worth it for what I paid, but this is precisely why I avoid most major shows.
