The Go! Team happens to be my personal favorite band that's currently making music and this is an unexpected surprise considering Parton was touting that 2011's Rolling Blackouts was most likely going to be their last album.

With Parton overseeing every aspect of production and contributing to every single instrument (more in style with the first release of Thunder Lightning Strike), it'll be interesting how the final album plays out. I'm hoping for an album similar to Thunder Lightning Strike and Rolling Blackouts and less like Proof of Youth. The title track released is decent, but leaves me wanting more.

Thunder Lightning Strike was one of my favorites from the last decade but Proof Of Youth immediately turned me off to the band. I never even knew they released an album in 2011. Is it any good?

I bought their first 2 albums but lost track of them after that. From what I hear so far, this sounds pretty good so I will pick this up when it comes out.

The same thing happened to me! I downloaded "Rolling Blackouts" after reading this thread and its very good. The basic sound is EXACTLY like the previous albums, but the songs are way better than on "Proof Of Youth". Excited to hear the new one, I won't wait 4 years this time.

Wow. Proof of Youth isn't that bad. To be said, there are some great tracks on there (Titanic Vandalism, Universal Speech, Patricia's Moving Picture) that are more in the style of what was heard on Thunder, Lightning, Strike. The album isn't as great as their other two albums, but it's also not a complete train wreck. With that being said, I got a lot more playtime from Rolling Blackouts as that album's great tracks (T.O.R.N.A.D.O., Apollo Throwdown, Buy Nothing Day, Voice Yr Choice, The Running Range, Rolling Blackouts) wipe the floor with what was presented on Proof of Youth.

With The Scene Between being an entirely Ian Parton production from beginning to end, it will probably be the closest sounding tonally to Thunder, Lightning, Strike.
